PERSONAL STATEMENT

https://www.soore.ac.ir/

My name is Narges. With an enduring passion for the field and an aspiration to contribute pioneering research. My journey, which began with a bachelor's degree from Soore University, has been one of continuous growth, exploration, and commitment to architectural excellence. Over the past three years, I have been privileged to work with some of Iran's most renowned architects and firms. These experiences have not just honed my skills, but also significantly shaped my perspective on the architectural world. I believe that to design the spaces of tomorrow, an architect must possess more than just technical acumen. It is the confluence of technology, philosophy, and an understanding of human needs that crafts spaces which are not just structures but testimonies of time and evolution. It is this belief that steered my interest towards the synergy between technology and philosophy. The future of architecture, especially in the realm of sustainability, hinges on this synergy. With the challenges posed by climate change and urbanization, the architectural world stands at a juncture where innovation is not just desired but essential. what i am looking for is, a bastion of research and innovation, I seek the mentor ship and resources to delve deep into this intersection and contribute solutions that are both sustainable and revolutionary. Throughout my professional journey, my emotional intelligence and collaborative spirit have been my strengths. They have allowed me to work seamlessly in teams, drawing from diverse perspectives and contributing my own. This trait, coupled with my inherent curiosity, has often led me to question the status quo, seeking ways to integrate novel technologies and philosophical paradigms into architectural designs. Right now I aim to expand upon my foundational knowledge, engage in cutting-edge research, and work alongside faculty members and peers who share my passion and vision for the future of architecture.

Drawing from this age-old wisdom, my design strategically positions a part of the river bed higher than the city to combat flooding. Three retention ponds have been introduced, capable of holding surplus water and gradually releasing it back to the riverbed. Along this path, water flows through the Water Museum—situated in the Ebi canal bed— offering visitors immersive experiences and unique vantage points. The intent is to deepen the connection people have with water, emphasizing its significance. Complementing the design is a verdant space populated by date palms, ensuring all water ultimately returns to the riverbed. Turning the continuation of this route, according to the controllability of the built-in gates of ponds, the controlled amount of water will pass through the designed water museum.

in case of high water volume there will be two entery The inspiration for this project stemmed from a year marked by severe floods in southern Iran, particularly in Khuzestan—an ancient province tracing its roots back to the Achaemenid period. Shushtar, a prominent city in this province, faced challenges in harnessing the water from the Karun River due to the river’s propensity to overflow and the soil’s instability. Ingenious ancient Iranian engineers tackled this by carving out a canal, lining it with stones, and ingeniously integrating water mills. This marvel is recognized today as the water structures of Abia Shushtar. It goes without saying that this canal returns to the Karun River after passing through the city.

Site alternatives for distracting water.

All humans have feel emotions when we think about water — whether we hear sounds of water, see water shapes, taste and smell water, or get into the water— we feel something… This feeling could be defined as an ancestral perception concerning the aesthetic and innate experience, which begins with the physical stimulation.

residential complex Architectural Design Studio5-2019 https://www.soore.ac.ir/

This project re-imagines residential living by offering a novel lifestyle experience. Open spaces hold equal weight as the living quarters. Drawing from Iranian architectural practices in desert areas, the design incorporates dense configurations to provide shade, reminiscent of cities like Yazd where such setups shield inhabitants from direct sunlight. By juxtaposing and rotating cubes, we’ve achieved this density and introduced communal courtyards—a key feature in traditional Iranian homes. Residing here promises a fresh take on home living.

The concept of residence is something more than just a shelter that protect man and his activities from the harm of natural elements. Finding the shortcomings of this definition and the boundaries of this concept is very difficult and varies with regard to factors like regional conditions, religion-related and discrete functions.

commercial complex Architectural Design Studio4-2018 soore university https://www.soore.ac.ir/

It is not only a business space but also a space to bring people of a community together in different ways. Every part of the commercial complex has spaces for people to gather together. They can also use entertainment spaces such as restaurants, cafes, cinemas, galleries. Finally, use all parts of this site. The paving stones of this commercial complex have different textures that can Create different spaces for users. These textures are combined with green spaces.

30

31

Safety is paramount. Following guidelines, the commercial structure’s width is restricted to 24 meters to ensure safety in the event of a fire and potential structural damage. This led to the conception of smaller, interconnected spaces. The design emphasizes user experience, with interconnected spaces spiraling around a central gathering point. Plazas are designed as focal points, and communal areas are strategically placed along pathways, enhancing user interactions and flow.

Conceptualized for three generations of a family, the villa’s design capitalizes on the site’s natural wind direction, ensuring airflow with the building’s orientation. This twist also offers an uninterrupted view of the neighboring lake, harmonizing nature with architecture.

Plasco was a 17-story building located at the heart of Tehran’s Downtown. This construction collapsed on 19 January 2017 during a high-rise fire. The building had a 15 stories tower in front and 5 stories separate building on the backside. The tower part burnt down completely during the fire and 16 firefighters and 6 others died during the fire, but the Backside building remained restored as it was. In Oct 2018, a design competition was held openly for designing a new Plasco building as a perdurable national monument. This design was awarded second place in the competition and after passing several assessments, it was selected for construction by the juries and client.

Following the restrictions and compact program in the building, the memorial part was the most flexible area to demonstrate the design concept. The fragments are suspended in a way that shapes a cavity at the center. This opening is the museum where separates the audience from the street chaos and leads them to the roof garden on the top of the 5-story building. In fact, the museum is the path that goes through the building and revives the memory in visitors’ minds. Despite the museum being removed from the project during the construction due to a mistake in the municipal permit, its effect remains in the volume, thus, it will remind us of the incident and will be a memorial of martyrs forever.

ferdows villa

Design Year: 2019 kourosh rafiey design studio https://www.archdaily.com/office/krds

Ferdows villa is located in the coastal town of Ferdows near Royan city at Mazandaran province. The Caspian Sea on the north and the Royan Forest on the south surround this small town. Moreover, a local park on the northeast side and lush mountains in distance provide good views and green perspectives for this property. At some certain heights, there are remarkable scenery and mastery over the pleasant spaces of the adjacent park.

54

55

Following the existing potentials of the land, we changed the initial scheme of the project. Instead of building a four-bedroom villa on two floors, we distributed the program in different levels. As a result, the two floors broke into several slabs, which each positioned based on the spatial conditions, the view and perspective. A vertical void with a staircase in between stiches all these slabs together as a whole. Moreover, this transparent vertical opening creates the sea-forest connection of the Ferdows town symbolically by connecting an old tree in the southern courtyard with a longitudinal pool in the northern courtyard. The ground level is dedicated to parking and service areas such as storage and mechanical room. The second floor, which is slightly elevated, houses the main entrance and public areas such as the lounge and kitchen that overlook the northern and southern courtyards on both sides. On the third level, right above the parking, there is a room that can be used for either guests’ room or workspace. This space has a good scenery to the residential town.

VAULT ON VAULT VILLA Design Year: 2020 kourosh rafiey design studio https://www.archdaily.com/office/krds

The Vaulted Villa project is located at the end of a villa township in Royan city, which overlooks the Caspian Sea. Two goals have been pursued in the design of this project: one is an architectural aspect; an attempt to use the facilities of vaults, which the ancient architects of Iran have dealt with in abundance. The other is about harmony with the environment of this region. In this new model, the top vault load is transferred as a point on the pole of the lower vault and is reassigned to the walls. This type of load distribution is not in the composition of the old vault and is only possible with the use of steel beams. In addition, it is visually comprehensible and understandable, so it extends architecture beyond mere aesthetic aspects.

65

Separation

Traditional Double-Shell Domes

Vault on top of the other

Iranian architecture is formed in two forms vaults and domes, and double-shell domes can be considered the culmination of such structures. In this project, in following the work done on the structural compositions of this kind of dome, this time, we come up with new combinations of vaults, by cutting and rotating the vaults in perpendicular directions and placing them on top of each other so that a load of each is supported by the lower arch, we achieve new combinations of arches that are original in their kind.
