My first project starting from this semester mostly related to hotel interiors, though I had a project of hotel room before. This time we are given more information and tasks to do and it was quite challenging because I had to work and cooperate with my classmates. Taking in the consideration that we had different approaches to the project it was not easy to come to the same conclusion but it was interesting. First project was related to hotel corridor design and it was my first group work. I was a little bit nervous whether I can handle it but I really enjoyed working with Svetlana Dubova the way how we came up to the idea of mystery maze so quickly and how we created all the work in just three days has inspired me to open new and may be crazy concepts for my further projects. So in hotel corridor design we wanted to create a sense of mystery misleading feeling by creating lights intersected to each other so it will look like maze and make every person intimidated when he will walk in that corridor. Though tutors offered us to change light from artificial to the natural one I stayed on my previous choice because this type of light projections will give the exact atmosphere of maze.

INTERACTION

Hotel Lobby Second project was related to another part of hotel – lobby Before starting our work we had to be separated to groups and had to investigate various hotels located in London. After visiting numbers of famous hotels London Edition, Rosewood, Sanderson, Hoxton in London we came to a conclusion to create an Instagram Page that will collaborate people together so they can be aware of every peculiarity of London lobbies. Hotels in the British capital represent a huge business. It is not by chance that all the main hotel groups around the world are investing in London and it is probably only the beginning. When you realize the marketplace and the competition it represents, you understand the importance for investors to think about new concepts to attract guests to spend time not only in the hotel but also in the lobby and the restaurants.

Person and an object When I reflected on my work, I realized that my area of choice is quite unique. I used the same minimalistic style as it was in my previous project . This time I wanted to create an interactive furniture that will show person’s mood and will change its color and shades according to the pulse of the sitter. Special monitors will be placed in that furniture and with its help I can create a sense of interactivity between a person and an object.

Inspiration Since beginning of the course I have been interested in the work of Peter Zumptor after reading his famous book called Atmospheres I started to go deeper and was fascinated by his design The Therme Vals which is a hotel and spa in one which combines a complete sensory experience designed by him.
14
What I really paid attention to is the way of light and shades which are creating in my opinion a sense of interactivity in that space. Before starting on my work I found my idea quite challenging so I decided to leave it and go for another idea, because I was not so confident about it but after tutorials with my tutors who encouraged me to complete my first idea I came to a conclusion that if I really like something I have to go for it without any fear or hesitation.

MATERIALS
22
Corian is the original solid surface material. Created to last a lifetime it is a unique blend of minerals and acrylic which creates a stone-hard surface that can be shaped to meet any design or dimension. So , for this project I wanted to use particulary Corian material ,because it will perfectly create an atmosphere of interactivity. It looks quite futuristic and will easly radiate light.

EXTROVERSION
“On a podium”- Oil, Canvas. In this painting i reflected my vision of an exrovert person, satisfaction that we get while being in the center of attention. 24
My concept for the next work is called Extroversion. In this project I am going to concentrate myself on a specific part in interior of the retail space. I choose Allsaints shop in a Regent Street as my project site. The main idea of this concept is using human’s psychology. I see a modern person as a fearless to new things, open-minded and craving for creativity. So I decided to create a podium in the shop. Red Carpet which started from the entrance and goes all the way of the shop will be a main point of customer’s attraction. Lots of people are extraverts who wants to feel themselves like a star on the red carpet and be as models on a podium. At the same time it would be beneficial for a shop that all products will be demonstrated by customers themselves right away not in the fitting room. It will promote the sale of the products and will ease the choosing process for the customers in the shop. My aim is to create design with podium corner for medium market ,it should be higher than Primark and lower than any luxury shop.

Making it easy The other peculiarity of this project is that customer never will get any troubles in choosing product . Special stylists and fashion designers will suggest them different combinations of cloths make - up and hairstyle so they can easily choose what they want and can stand to the catwalk if they want to attract people’s attention and feel themselves like a star! Right in entrance of the shop there would be special monitors called smart wardrobe , so they can also try any product provided in that retail space without taking off their own. So, looking in that monitor you will see product that you chose right on yourself as well.
