Project Overview

Next to the main entrance to the southeast of Longyuan, 200 meters away from Longping Station, the transit station of planned Metro Line 16 (opened in 2023) and Line 21 (opened in 2030). The plan revision has been approved, and the office functions of the existing Longping River Basin Management Center can be integrated into the Xinbi Daoguan. Therefore, after comprehensively evaluating various conditions, the plot can be quickly implemented for the construction of the Bidaoguan, and it will become the landmark of the main entrance of Longyuan

This plan is centered on the demonstration of dragon boat culture and Bidao ecology. The building contains exhibition, leisure and service functions. At the same time, it needs to be combined with Longping River Basin Center Office, party and government propaganda, and can also be combined with dragon boats and elements that show the characteristics of Longgang River. It is functionally complementary to the Hakka Culture Museum to be built in the future.

Considering that a traditional Hakka culture museum will be built in the area in the future, this plan positions the Bidaoguan as a more modern ecological museum. The main body of the building is a simple and pure white box floating in the air, and a Bidao ecological exhibition is set inside. The ground floor is extremely transparent, allowing the public space to continue. A dragon boat race is held every year near the venue. Therefore, the first floor focuses on displaying the dragon boat culture. On weekdays, the dragon boat can stay and maintain here. At the same time, it also appears in the public view as a beautiful exhibit, and it is used as a boat race during the dragon boat race. Get out of the museum and launch quickly.

STRUCTURE & LANDSCAPE DESIGN

The building continues the terrace trend of the landscape, from low to high, as if it grows from the ground, conforming to the intention of the roots of the banyan tree.

A Gathering Place- The simple and pure walkway encloses the existing trees and floats in the air, and the landing place connects with the square on the west side. The building is located in a courtyard surrounded by a walkway: a large staircase forms a natural ground and a stage facing the river bank; below the stage are public facilities and offices, and the Bidao ecological exhibition is set on the second floor. The overall flow is transparent, and while continuing the visual and spatial experience, it emphasizes the concept of harmony between man and nature.
