Diane Simpson Museum

This museum is a a close study of Diane Simpson's artwork at an architectural scale. Fascinated by the seamless shifting from body to architecture, Simpson's collection is simply an investigation of volumetric representaion. This museum investigates the contradicting disctortion that is caused by the trasformation of 2D images to 3D forms. This project aims to understand Simpson's set of design rules and tends to apply those operational rules to the front elevation of this museum, creating an illusion of a 2 dimensional image in space.

Object Lessons

This project is a detailed observation of everyday objects at an architectural scale. Focusing on ordinary objects that are housed on a human body, this project celebrates everyday objects for what they are and the simple tasks they fulfill.

03

Librar y

This project focuses on four truncated volumes that intersect to create a central void. Carved spaces set rules for the physical programs creating a hierarchy between all that is horizontal and non horizontal. This division aims to explore the changing nature of a contemporary library while revisiting the true value of physical books in today's life.

Pr e c e d e n t S t u d y

This project is a close study of the National Museum of Science and Technology [MUNCYT] designed by aceboXalonso Studio in Spain. This analytical study looks at MUNCYT as an investigation of light and shadow and how that affects the spatial quality of the different interior conditions in the building caused by the double skin facade system.

05

Pa rk let

Focusing on the revitalization of Alcatraz Avenue, this parklet aims to choreograph the human body experience through a series of architectural frames. With an interest in the transformation of the human body to architecture, this project is simply a translation of body members to architectural joints and how one could frame the human experience. The human body diagram [on the right] and the site plan [on the left ] below are borrowed work from my group members to help undertsand the project.

DETAIL OF ASSEMBLY

06

Good Food

Designed through the shifting of volumes, this project investigates visual connection through a central void. The central void defines the interior light quality as well as allowing the interior volumes to visually connect to one another. These programmatic connections help redefine a contemporary public urban space as a productive merger of passive and active interaction of food production, food research and celebration and education of good food.

07 The Koenig House

This project was a group investigation of the Koening House also known as Case Study House 21. As a group, we decided to focus on the structure of this house and aimed to recreate what we learned through a series of sectional models and axonometric drawings.
