Storm Water Improvement Project

The Public Works Department, in coordination with the City's Infrastructure Committee, began inspecting and improving the City's storm water system. After many meetings and site visits to each lift station, engineering and design work was completed. This project consists of the installation of seven (7) new 10 HP non-clog pumps, three (3) new control panels and two (2) variable frequency drive units. Over 100 feet of new discharge piping and gravity lines were installed by a combination of the Street, Line Repair, and Parks crews. The new pumps will replace the old pumps along Upper Bay Road, along with installation of new discharge piping. A new storm water pump station was designed at the entrance of David Braun Park in order to move a tremendous amount of rain water during a heavy rainfall event. All work is being accomplished by the City (not contractors), which is a huge cost savings to the City's taxpayers. With hurricane season upon us, the completion of this project is a high priority. Some smaller projects and maintenance have been delayed until this project is complete. Although the City is experiencing extreme heat conditions, crews continue to battle on with this project. We salute our great Public Work employees and their hard work!
