Code Enforcement: 18 Leeward Lane

Code enforcement remains a priority in the City of Nassau Bay. The Code Enforcement Team is working to make Nassau Bay neighborhoods safe, strong and attractive. Currently in the condemnation process, the home located at 18 Leeward Drive has been a code enforcement issue for the City for over 10 years. The owner of the property complied with the City’s requests, but has allowed the property to fall back into violation time and time again. After the passing of the homeowner, the property went into the court system, as there was no next of kin. Months of investigation and working with the courts, the City was given permission by an attorney representing the property to clean out the house and secure the structure. With the clean out costing the City approximately $10,000, Nassau Bay placed a lien against the property and expects reimbursement of these costs when the property is acquired by FEMA. The City hired a contractor to remove all of the items from the home, which took two full days with five employees working 8 hour days.
