Did you know residents can participate in residential recycling for a small annual fee through AmeriWaste? Recyclables are collected on Thursdays and a 35-gallon recycling cart is provided to all recycling customers. Both curbside and back door recycling options are available. There is a nominal fee for back door recycling of $37.80 / year. The curbside recycling fee is $18.65 / year.

Do you know what you can and cannot recycle? Here are some helpful DOs and DON'Ts for your next recycle bin:

Aluminum, Tin & Metal:

• DOs: Aluminum Foil (balled), Aluminum Foil Baking Pans, Food Cans, Soda Cans, Steel and Tin Cans

• DON'Ts: Paint Cans, Helium Tanks

Glass (Labels can be left on containers)

• DOs: Clear, Amber, Green Bottles, Jars

• DON'Ts: Broken Glass, Light Bulbs, Mirrors, Windows

Plastics (#1-5, and #7)

• DOs: Tops Separate, Water / Soda Bottles, Liquid Containers, Jars and Tubs, Detergent and Cleaner Bottles, Soap / Shampoo Bottles

• DON'Ts: Plastic Foam (cups, take-out containers, etc.), Plastic Bags, Films, and Packaging, Clothes Hangers, Styrofoam, Oil / Anti-freeze Containers, Gas Cans

Paper (May be placed in plastic or paper bags to help with containment)

• DOs: Newspapers, Coupons, Office Paper, Construction, Colored Paper, Posters, Envelopes, Folders, Greeting Cards, Junk Mail, Phone Books, Catalogs, Magazines, Wrapper Paper, Paper Bags

• DON'Ts: Wet Paper, Toilet Tissue, Stickers, Labels

Cardboard (Remove liners and flatten large items)

• DOs: Corrugated Cardboard, Shoe / Gift Boxes, Soda / Beverage Boxes, Food boxes (cereal boxes, etc.)

• DON'Ts: Pizza Boxes, Wax-board Containers

The above items should be clean and rinsed of any liquids or food products. One dirty product or item with food waste still inside can contaminate an entire bale containing thousands of pounds of collected items.
