National Police Week
MAY 14-20, 2023
In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
Nassau Bay City Hall / Police Offices will be lit in blue during Police Week to remember those officers who died in the line of duty, including Nassau Bay PD Sgt. Kaila Sullivan, E.O.W. 12-10-2019.
Nassau Bay will hold a memorial ceremony to remember Sgt. Sullivan and all the officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 10:00 am, at the Nassau Bay Police Memorial located in the Town Square in front of the Marriot Hotel.
Welcome Communications Coordinator hanna lowery
The City of Nassau Bay Welcomes Hanna Lowery as the Communications Coordinator.
Hanna's first day as Communications Coordinator was Monday, April 3rd. Hanna brings with her over 3 years of Communications experience and has previously worked for the City of Galveston and the Houston Astros Organization. Hanna recieved her Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi in History and Digital Journalism.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, and cat, Toby.

Nassau Bay Honors Volunteer Fire Department Members
The Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department celebrated their accomplishments at their annual banquet held at the Tom George Nassau Bay Fire and EMS Station on February 25, 2023.
During the evening, NBVFD President Matt Roper and Fire Chief Tom George presented the following NBVFD members with special recognition for their 2022 accomplishments

In a special tribute, the NBVFD commemorated Tom George’s 25-year anniversary as Fire Chief. With a presentation that included a walk down memory lane of all that has changed in the world and the department during his tenure (quite a lot!), the NBVFD also specially recognized and thanked Tom’s wife, Karen for her unwavering support throughout the years. She is a perfect representative of the love, support and sacrifices made every day by all NBVFD spouses, family and friends which enable the members to serve the City and create a safer place to live, work and play.

The Salute to Roscoe Lee was a huge success! Thank to all those who came out to celebrate Roscoe’s 48 YEARS of volunteering in Nassau Bay (a city record). Through your support and celebration of Roscoe, CANBE is proud to donate $7500 to the animal shelter. The animal shelter is near and dear to Roscoe’s heart as he and Tuie walk the shelter dogs weekly. And of course we are so grateful to Troy Bradfield and all he does for our shelter animals.

NASSAU BAY HOMES ASSOCIATION, INC.
As required in the by-laws of the Nassau Bay Homes Association, Inc. (NBHA), the annual election for it’s Board of Trustees will be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 from 7am-7pm, and early voting on Monday, May 1st - Thursday, May 4th from 9am to 4 pm at the NBHA office located at 1322 Space Park Drive, Suite C119.
Any property owner who pays into the Nassau Bay Owners Association Inc. Lot Assessment Fund, may vote with a maximum of one votes per home. Spouses not currently named as a homeowner with Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) will need to bring a copy of their marriage certificate. ST. THOMAS THE APOSTLE EPISCOPAL SCHOOL BY THE NUMBERS MARCH 2023
St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal School has been awarded $227,000 as a part of the Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Assistance to Private Schools (GAPS) grant program. This will be used to extend and upgrade safety and security, technology, professional development, furniture, and so much more.
St. Thomas has already invested in upgrades to the playground, which include a Gaga Ball pit, shade sails, bridges, and more to come. The community is encouraged to utilize this beautiful space outside of school hours.
In preparation for the Coronation of King Charles III on May 6, please join British journalist Cathy Hollowell for a discussion on all things royal and coronation- scandals, traditions, and the future of the monarchy. Cathy has covered the royal family for 50+ years and will give perspective into one the of the grandest events of our time. Cathy's talk begins at 5pm in the church sanctuary and will be followed by a wine and cheese reception. Tickets are available only at the door and credit cards are accepted. Entry donation of $20 supports the installation of an historic pipe organ- 1 of only 4 of its kind in the US!- and includes the program, wine, and cheese.
Texas Water Conference

Employees from Public Works-Utilities and Operations departments attended the annual Texas Water conference that was sponsored by the Texas American Water Works Association (Texas AWWA) and the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT). The annual conference is a great opportunity for industry employees to share knowledge and experience with a wide range of operators, engineers, and manufacturers. The special community forum will be held in the City of Nassau Bay’s Council Chambers on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 5:30 PM.
Garden Club Upcoming Events
The Nassau Bay Garden Club Style Show and Luncheon will host its biennial event at 11 a.m. May 12 at the Lakewood Yacht Club. Our much anticipated event is sold out, but you can still show your support by becoming an underwriter or by donating to our silent or live auctions.
The “Fashions by the Bay” themed event will include a luncheon in a coastal setting complemented by floral décor. Club members and special guests in our community who have made an impact in the areas of conservation and civic beautification will model this year’s spring and summer fashions, announced Rhonda Rivas and Royce Walker, co-chairs of the event. This event is the single fundraiser for the club that provides countless philanthropy projects for Nassau Bay and surrounding communities, including scholarships for students studying horticulture, design and maintenance of six gardens, the sponsorship of the junior gardeners of Robinson Elementary School and St. Thomas Episcopal School, Beautification Day, Arbor Day, monthly speakers on conservation, preservation and gardening, and general education programs.
The Clothes Horse Boutique, located in the historic district of League City, will provide the fashions. The event also includes silent and live auctions.

The City of Nassau Bay is at its strongest when our community is informed and engaged — we are stronger when we all vote! We invite you to visit the City's Election website at www. nassaubay.com/Election to learn more about the May 6th election and the individual candidates.
Election Day: Election Day is Saturday, May 6th. Voting will be held in the City Hall Council Chamber (1800 Space Park Drive, Suite 200, Nassau Bay, TX 77058 from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Unofficial tabulation of results will be publicized as soon as possible after 7:00pm on May 6th.
Sample Ballot: Residents will be voting for the Council Positions 1, 3, and 5 and Clear Creek ISD Trustee Election Position 2. A sample ballot can be found at www. harrisvotes.com. Below are the City Council candidates that will be presented on Nassau Bay’s May 6th ballot:

Identification Requirements for Voting: Photo identification is required to vote in Texas. Valid forms of ID include a Texas Driver License, Texas Election Identification Certificate, Texas Personal Identification Card, Texas Handgun License, United States Military Identification Card, United States Citizenship Certificate, and United States Passport.
CCISD Election: CCISD’s Board of Trustees election is separate from Harris County / City of Nassau Bay elections – residents will complete two ballots, one for Nassau Bay’s Council Positions 1, 3 and 5, and one for CCISD’s Position 2. Residents can also vote for the CCISD Election on May 6th in the City Hall Council Chambers.
