Nassau Bay Garden Club

Join the Garden Club for "State of Nassau Bay": The first meeting of the fall for the Nassau Bay Garden Club will be on Tuesday, September 10th. Join the Club at 9:30am for coffee and conversation, 10:00am for the program, followed by the business meeting at 11:00am. The speaker for this meeting will be Mayor Mark Denman who will discuss the "State of the City" and will answer questions.

Community Engagement: The Club feels honored to have a close working relationship with the Public Works Department, and enjoys their involvement with Parks & Recreation, Beautification Day, Keep Nassau Bay Beautiful, Fall Sweep, and Arbor Day. The Club is anxious to get started with another busy year! As you pass throughout the City, take time to enjoy all the nature, beautiful trees, and flowers, and know that it takes planning, cooperation, and hard work by all to maintain the peace and uniqueness that is Nassau Bay.

Feeding Hummingbirds: September brings the migrating hummingbirds through our area. Keep feeders full of nectar [4 cups of water with 1 cup of white sugar] and in the shade. Clean and replenish the feeder every 3 to 4 days [do NOT add food coloring!]. Hummingbirds love salvia, shrimp plant, turk’s cap, firespike, pride of barbados, and others. Ask your nurseryman and buy flowering plants. September is the time to mulch, water less and only in the morning, and plant fall vegetables and seeds. Cooler weather is on the way!
