Investment passport of Chernivtsi region is created by the State Agency for Investment and National Projects of Ukraine in collaboration with Chernivtsi Regional State Administration. 1.4. Education There were 445 comprehensive schools with 103.0 thousand pupils in 2012/2013 school year. Vocational technical schools amounted to 14 units with 3.8 thousand students. Training of personnel with higher education by professional orientation is carried out in 32 higher education institutions (HEI), among which 21 HEI have I-II accreditation levels, 11 HEI have III-IV accreditation levels. 1.6. Economic potential PRIORITY SECTORS OF ECONOMY IN THE REGION There are more than 250 industrial enterprises in Chernivtsi region. The following economic activities dominate in sales of industrial products in 2012: electric power, gas and heat supply, foods, machinery and equipment, chemical and petrochemical products, which constitute 86.6% in total sales volume of industrial products of the region. EXPORT/IMPORT, COUNTRIES, BALANCE In 2012, the companies of Chernivtsi region exported products to more than 51 countries, imports were received by companies from over 68 countries. Export deliveries amounted to $124.9 mln; the arrivals amounted to $174.8 mln. Red ink of foreign trade made up $49.9 mln. Major partners in export of goods

The following services dominated in the structure of export of services by economic activities: - transport and communication services – 46.8% - real estate services, leasing and services provided to legal entities – 25.9% - educational services – 24.2 % Compared to 2011 the export of services increased by 40.7%. The largest share in the import of services was made up by transport services (49.5%) and real estate services, leasing and services provided to legal entities (46.1%). MAJOR FOREIGN INVESTORS In 2012, foreign investors contributed 2.4 mln USD of direct investment (stock capital) into the economy of the region. Volume of direct foreign investment (stock capital) contributed from the beginning of investing period as of 01.01.2013 amounted to 64.3 mln USD. Information on initiator
Ltd. Bukovina building materials (France) is a part of the international company Lafarge, namely to the group of companies of business line Crushed Stone, Lafarge Ukraine. In 2008 the company Lafarge received special permission for subsoil use of Maidan-Ispaskyi deposit to develop it and structure the enterprise for the production of crushed stone. In 2011-2012 it was installed the crushing and screening plant, the precommissioning works were conducted. In 2013 the company is fully commissioned.

Lafarge is the world leader in industry of building materials. It counts 65.000 employees in 64 countries. In 2012, sales of the Company amounted to 15.8 billion euro. Lafarge is a leader in all areas of its activities - the production of cement, gravel and concrete. The company is a leading supplier of nonmetallic materials in the construction market of Ukraine since 1999. Today Lafarge Ukraine is presented in two business lines: crushed stone and cement.
Holding Metro Group opened four supermarkets Metro Cash and Carry in Chernivtsi.

«METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine» opened its first store in Kiev in 2003. Since then the company has invested over 545 million euro in its development in Ukraine and created more than 7.600 of new jobs. Currently in Ukraine there are 33 stores.

Transport and communications Chernivtsi region is located at the crossroads of main roads of Central, Southern and Eastern Europe, in southwestern Ukraine in the foothills of the Carpathians on the flow of Dnister and Prut rivers. In the South and East it borders with Romania (226.4 km of border) and with Moldova (178 km of border). It makes the region an attractive place for development and expansion of business. MAJOR MOTORWAYS The stretch of public motorways at the territory of Chernivtsi region is 2885.5 km. They include: state roads – 1276.4 km and local roads – 1609.1 km. On the territory of region passes such roads as Ternopil - Chernivtsi - Porubne and Chernivtsi- Mamalyha which are part of international transport corridor Baltic Sea - Black Sea (Yagodyn - Kovel - Lutsk Ternopil - Khmelnytskyi - Vinnytsia - Uman - Black Sea ports ) and the international highway E-85 that on road Ternopil - Chernivtsi - Porubne coincides with international transport corridor; public national highways H-03 (Zhytomyr - Chernivtsi) and H-10 (Stryi - Ivano-Frankivsk - Chernivtsi - Mamalyha); regional roads P-62 (Verkhovyna - Ust-Putyla - Storozhynets - Chernivtsi) and P-63 (beginning from the highway H-03 (Dankivtsi ) - Vartykivtsi - PPC Sokyriany) and other territorial roads. There are 14 checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine, including 8 at the border with Moldova and 6 at the border with Romania in Chernivtsi region. Except passenger transportations freight transportations are also carried through international checkpoint Romania "Porubne", which have a clear trend of growth during recent years. RAILWAY NETWORK Developed length of the main railway lines in Chernivtsi region is 421.8 km. They are operated by two railways offices – Lvivska and Pivdenno-Zakhidna. From the railway station in Chernivtsi trains go abroad and to different cities in Ukraine: Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, as well as by commuter routes.

AIRPORTS International airport "Chernivtsi" functions in Bukovyna. Flights to Kyiv and Timisoara (Romania) are carried out, as well as seasonal flights to other cities in Ukraine and abroad. Throughput is 12 take-offs and landings per hour. Airport allows operate such aircrafts as AN-12, YAK-42, Tu-134 weight up to 75 ton. BUS TERMINALS There are such bus stations in Chernivtsi region: Bus station ยน1 from which buses go in all directions in Ukraine as well as abroad.

Capacity of the stadium – 12.000 people. Championship matches of Ukraine take place there. There is a mini football field with artificial surface, tennis court, playground for beach volleyball.
Boianivka Shopping and entertainment centre (43 Khotynska St.)
The total area is 120 thousand m². There are: the largest in Chernivtsi exhibition hall, year-round skating rink, shops, cinemas, night club, bowling center and billiard club, hypermarkets "Karavan" and "Eldorado", a business center, car showroom, concert stage.
Olimpiia Physical Training and Recreation Complex (6 Vorobkevycha St.)
Olympia includes: gym with a standard mini-football field and the stands, a football field with artificial grass 110x70 m, playground with artificial turf 42x24 m, playground with artificial surface 24x15 m, a fitness complex, locker rooms, showers, administrative offices.

MUSEUMS Historical and cultural heritage of Chernivtsi region can be found in various museums, sightseeing tours, including: - State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Khotynska fortetsia"(17 Sviatopokrovska St., Khotyn) - Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Folk Architecture and Life (2 Svitlovodska St.) - Chernivtsi Historical Museum (28 Olhy Kobylianskoi St.) - Chernivtsi Regional Art Museum (10 Tsentralna Sq.) - Chernivtsi Museum of Military History (26-B Frunze St.) - Natural History Museum of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (5 Shillera St.) - Chernivtsi Regional Memorial Museum by Volodymyr Ivasiuk (40/1 Maiakovskoho St.) - Chernivtsi Literary Memorial Museum by Olha Kobylianskoi (5 Dymytrova St.) NATURAL RESERVES In Chernivtsi region there are 330 territories and objects of natural reserve fund, which cover more than 10.5 % of the area, including Vyzhnytskyi, Cheremoshskyi and Khotyn National Parks, 2 arboretums of national importance, 10 nature reserves, 9 sights of nature, botanical and dendrological parks of Chernivtsi National University, Chernivtsi Regional Landscape Park, 152 sights of nature, 40 parks – sights of landscape art and 38 natural reserves. The most famous protected area of Bukovyna is National Park Vyzhnytskyi (8000 ha), which was established in 1995 on the basis of reserves Stebnyk and Luzhky. There are numerous mineral springs in the park. National parks Cheremoshskyi (7117 ha) and Khotyn (9446 ha) were established to conserve valuable natural, historical and cultural complexes and objects of mountainous areas of Bukovyna. The most famous landscape reserves are Tsetsyno, ornithological reserve Dranytskyy, forest reserve Lunkivskyi and Petrivetskyi. To nature sights of national importance belong botanical Bilka, geological caves Popeliushka, Bukovynka and Balamutivska, forest – Shylivskyi lis, Tysovyi Yar.
