Woodrow Wilson Classical High School Long Beach, CA

Message from the Principal Welcome Bruin Football Fans! Fall is here and that means it’s time for us to cheer on our Wilson Football team! There is something very special about the new school year and the sights and sounds of football. We hope you will join us in cheering on our young athletes as they continue to make us proud on and off of the field. Under the outstanding leadership of Head Coach John Janzen and Wilson Touchdown Club President Mike Lanterman, we are ready for an exciting season. Let’s all come out and root for the Bruins! Sandy Blazer, Principal

Message from Mike Lanterman president, wilson bruin touchdown club

On behalf of the Wilson Bruin Touchdown Club, I would like to welcome you to the 2014 Season! We are very excited about the new coaching staff that Coach Janzen has put together. They are tremendous coaches with excellent track records and outstanding achievements. The team put in many hours of hard work on the field and in the weight room in preparation for this season. We wish them the best of luck this year, on and off the field. I would like to thank the Touchdown Club Board of Directors, parents, business friends, and the players, for their hard work fundraising. The result has enabled us to provide new helmets and shoulder pads. We were also able to purchase a lineman chute, battle ropes, agility ladders, and upgrade our weight room. With the help of local businesses and TD Club members, we provided meals for the Summer Camp participants. We will also feed the team every Friday on game day. Please visit our sponsors’ businesses listed in this media guide, as they are an integral part of the Bruin Family. I look forward to seeing you all every Friday night! Please try to attend our Freshman and Junior Varsity games on Thursday afternoons. Locations can be seen on our totally transformed website at http://lbwilsonfootball.com/.

Go Bruins!!

the Coaching Staff Message from John Janzen Head Coach

Dear Bruin Football Family,

John Janzen

Varsity Head Coach

Thanks for coming out and supporting our 2014 Wilson Bruin football team! These athletes have been challenged both physically and mentally for the upcoming season. They have worked exceptionally hard on and off the field during the off-season. They have spent countless hours working out in the weight room, on the practice field, and in the classroom. I am very proud of each member of the football program and honored to be their coach. I look forward to watching their growth and maturation throughout the year. This team competes in one of the toughest leagues in Southern California and has prepared well for the challenge. First off, I want to thank the Bruin Football Touchdown Club. They have done an outstanding job in meeting the financial obligation of the football team. Like every program funded by LBUSD, we too, have received less support due to the lack of funding. However, the Touchdown Club kicked up fundraising efforts so the team would not be affected by these cuts. The 2014 season would be impossible without the Touchdown Club’s support. Next, I would like to thank the administration, teachers, and ASB for their support of Bruin Football. They spend many hours helping to make a difference in their lives too. I also want to thank the parents for their continued support of these young people. Finally, I want to thank the coaching staff for the many hours they put into doing what they love…coaching! And last but certainly not least, I want to thank my wife Dani, and two sons Dylan and Landry, for allowing me to coach. They show constant support and understanding of this crazy passion of mine. Go Bruins!! — Coach Janzen
