The manufacturing of this tap will be done in a die casting process. A process where the molten aluminium will be injected under high pressure into a steel mould that has been specifically manufactured to the correct shape and dimensions that the tap needs. Due to the structure of the design both sides of the mould will be identical. The mould will need an injection point that will be situated at the front on the top half where the spout will be situated and at the top of the main frame of the tap so that all the areas are filled correctly. The high pressure will need to be carried on throughout the process until the metal becomes solid. Due to one of the properties of the tap being that it is hollow a coring process will be needed. The more complex the casting is the more parts and moulds needed. Die casting will produce a mating line which will be taken into account during manufacturing and a tolerance will be put into place so that when joined it can be machined off so no marks are visible.
