PRESS RELEASE World’s Largest Cathedral Trusts Vicon to Deliver World-Class Security NYC’s Cathedral of Saint John the Divine Upgrades to a Valerus VMS System
MEDIA CONTACT: Dolores Wellisch, Director of Marketing +1 631.952.2288 dwellisch@vicon-security.com
Hauppauge, NY | May 7, 2018: Vicon Industries, Inc. (VII: NYSE-MKT) (“Vicon”), designer and manufacturer of video surveillance and access control software, hardware and components, announced today that The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, the largest Cathedral and fifth largest church building in the world, recently completed installation of a Vicon Valerus video management system to secure the Cathedral and surrounding 11.3 acre complex in Manhattan. As the seat of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, the Cathedral is the site of daily religious services, community programing and social outreach. It also plays host to a busy schedule of art exhibitions, concerts, receptions, public and private events and visiting dignitaries, who have included Nelson Mandela, The Most Reverend Desmond Tutu and President Bill Clinton. The new Valerus system, installed by the Long Island office of ITsavvy, an IT products and technology solutions provider, combines over 70 Vicon high-resolution IP cameras, a Valerus application server and multiple recording servers. The system’s wide range of cameras include models with powerful zoom that provide detailed coverage of surrounding city streets, and others chosen for their ability to perform well in the low and challenging light inside the Cathedral. Cameras also provide coverage of the Cathedral’s’ exterior, administrative and residential buildings that support the Bishop, clergy and Diocese, a world-class textile conservation laboratory, visitor center, information booths and surrounding grounds and gardens. The Valerus system is vital for providing safety for all visitors, staff, residents and students, as well as protecting the property and its many valuable artifacts. Cameras are particularly helpful in protecting the Cathedral from liability in slip-and-fall incidents. They also document, for the police, any incidents that arise from the Cathedral’s service to the mentally ill and indigent. Live and recorded video from the Valerus system is frequently shared with NYPD and local security forces from Columbia University and other neighboring institutions. Keith Hinkson, Director of Security at The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, says, “The searching feature is so much easier on Valerus, and we can see up to 99 cameras on one screen. This is huge for an institution like ours. I can go from one camera to the next with no trouble whatsoever.” “Vicon is incredibly proud that a world-class institution as prestigious as The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine has entrusted its security to an end-to-end Vicon solution, including our latest Valerus software. Our participation in this project illustrates that Valerus can deliver security effectively to the most high-profile of installations,” said Bret McGowan, Vicon’s Senior V.P. of Sales and Marketing. Hauppauge, NY | April 30, 2018: Vicon Industries, Inc. (VII: NYSE-MKT) (“Vicon”), designer and manufacturer of video surveillance and access control software, hardware and components, announced today that implementation of its end-to-end Valerus video management system at the Greek American Institute (GAI) in Bronx, NY has been completed. The installation was performed by the Long Island office of ITsavvy, a Chicago-based IT products and technology solutions provider. The new Vicon Valerus system encompasses the entire property, which includes the oldest continuously run Greek Orthodox School in the United States and the adjacent Church of Zoodohos Peghe and community center. It includes cameras within the interior and around the exterior of all buildings and surrounding grounds, and is managed and monitored through web-based Valerus VMS software, making it accessible to school administrators both onsite and to those logging in remotely via an internet browser. The Valerus interface provides customized views for each system user. Based upon log-in credentials, cameras that are of greatest interest to each administrator are displayed as part of their default settings. ITsavvy worked with GAI to identify camera placement to maximize coverage of all indoor and outdoor publicly accessible areas, selecting high resolution Vicon cameras models that could deliver clear visibility in a cost-effective manner. The use of 360 ° hemispheric cameras, in select locations, provide expansive coverage with no blind spots in busy areas where students often congregate. The new system satisfies parents’ requests to provide enhanced security for the children who attend the school, and provides administrators with tools to investigate and prosecute any future criminal activity. Demos Lorentzos, President of GAI’s School Board, says, “The Valerus system is simple to use but very advanced. Someone who isn’t technically savvy can easily navigate through it.” Bret McGowan, Vicon’s Senior V.P. of Sales and Marketing says that the system was designed with specifically that intent. “Schools and Places of Worship have been the scene of too many tragedies in recent years. Our Valerus system is designed to provide these types of facilities with sophisticated security solutions that are easy for non-technical administrators to use to their full capabilities.” Learn more about this installation on Vicon’s website: http://www.vicon-security.com/about-vicon/case-studies/greek-americaninstitute/. PRESS RELEASE Busy Dog Care Center Gets Security Upgrade with New Vicon Valerus System
MEDIA CONTACT: Dolores Wellisch, Director of Marketing +1 631.952.2288 dwellisch@vicon-security.com
Hauppauge, NY | June 14, 2018: V Vicon Industries, Inc. (VII: NYSE-MKT) (“Vicon”), designer and manufacturer of video surveillance and access control software, hardware and components, announced today that Play Dog eXcellent (PDX), premier provider of dog care services in Chattanooga, TN has completed a facility-wide security upgrade with Vicon’s new Valerus VMS. Meyers Security, also of Chattanooga, handled system design and installation of the new system, which incorporates many of the center’s existing analog cameras along with new high-definition models into a Valerus network solution that enhances the security and operations at PDX. The 20,000 square foot building and surrounding four-acre property provides boarding, dog day care, training, seminars, workshops and performance events for the dog-loving community. The business serves an average of 120 dogs each day. Meyers Security designed the solution with sensitivity to the facility’s budgetary concerns, offering a system that delivers ease-of-use and flexibility while minimizing hardware, licensing and installation costs. Plans to eventually swap out the remaining analog cameras with new HD analog models from Vicon will make the conversion simple and affordable. New Vicon 4 MP cameras and 12 MP hemispheric cameras provide PDX management with an ability to see what’s happening across their entire property with a level of detail not previously possible. They can now differentiate between individual dogs on camera, even from long distances and when they’re moving very quickly. Coverage of the parking lot and surrounding grounds has helped to deter vandalism. In addition to security surveillance, the Valerus system is proving helpful with staff supervision, management and training. Video clips of staff interacting with the dogs, or the dogs interacting with each other, are used as “teachable moments” during staff meetings to demonstrate how procedures can be improved. Video from panoramic cameras above the training arena provide clear footage of agility exercises, which can be reviewed repeatedly by training staff. Nancy Miller, Managing Partner at PDX, says “The new Valerus system is an important tool that helps me and my staff do our jobs better and it’s very easy to use.” Vicon’s Mike Rose, Regional Sales Manager who worked on the project, says “The PDX installation showcases how Vicon solutions can offer the features and benefits of a premium VMS solution to smaller businesses with modest budgets.” Learn more about this installation on Vicon’s website: http://www.vicon-security.com/about-vicon/case-studies/play-dog-excellent/. PRESS RELEASE Vicon’s V1000 Series of Multi-Sensor Cameras Provides Up to 20 MP Panoramic View without Distortion
MEDIA CONTACT: Dolores Wellisch, Director of Marketing +1 631.952.2288 dwellisch@vicon-security.com
Hauppauge, NY | June 5, 2018: Vicon Industries, Inc. (VII: NYSE-MKT) (“Vicon”), designer and manufacturer of video surveillance and access control software, hardware and components, announces the launch of a new line of 180-degree ultra-high-definition multi-sensor cameras. Designed for providing highly detailed coverage of expansive areas, such as airports, perimeter security and city surveillance, the new V1000 line is compatible with many industry leading VMS solutions, including Vicon’s Valerus, and does not require video dewarping by VMS software in order to display an undistorted panoramic image. The V1000 models are fixed camera domes containing four separate camera modules that work together to deliver a seamless 180-degree view. Video can be monitored as a single horizontal image as well as separate quadrants. Operators can set different exposure settings for each module. The 8 MP V1008-WIR-180 camera makes use of four 2 MP modules; modules for the 20 MP V1020-WIR-180 camera are 5 MP each. The ability of multi-sensor panoramic cameras to replace the need for multiple cameras with a single device makes them a cost-effective tool for large-scale systems that provide surveillance of sprawling geographic areas. Operators have the ability to zoom into an area of interest, in real time, while the camera continues to transmit video coverage of the entire scene for recording purposes. The cameras’ Video Content Analysis detects motion and tampering and can alert operators to their occurrence. The V1000 line features both H.265 compression and Smart Encoding, providing the most efficient use of network bandwidth and storage capacity. An IR cut filter provides low light sensitivity and the IK10 and IP66 rated housing delivers vandal protection and weather resistance. “Vicon’s end-to-end surveillance solutions have long been trusted by cities, airports, utilities and other authorities that have need for the highest quality surveillance of properties and perimeters. We are confident that these customers will find our new V1000 line to be a valuable addition to our company’s offerings,” said Bret McGowan, Senior V.P. of Sales and Marketing. Learn more now on Vicon’s website: http://www.vicon-security.com/v1000-multi-sensor-camera/ . Orders are being taken now for shipment in late summer. # # # About Vicon Industries, Inc. The V988 bullet and dome models both include a wide range of high-performance features, including true wide dynamic range, quad streaming, video content analysis to identify tampering, intrusion, motion detection and defog, audio and alarm input/output, and IP66/ IK10 rated enclosures that provide vandal and water resistance. H.265 compression drastically reduces file sizes and conserves network bandwidth. Power over Ethernet eliminates the need for power cables, simplifying installation and reducing associated labor costs. “We expect our new 4K dome and bullet models to be popular additions to our extensive camera line” said Bret McGowan, Senior V.P., Sales and Marketing. “Customers expect quality and value from Vicon cameras, and the V988 line will deliver on that promise.” Learn more now on Vicon’s website: http://www.vicon-security.com/products/network-cameras.
