Location: Gurgaon Client: Paras BuildTech Status: Built Size: 25,000 sq ft | 4 acres Project Info The project is a commercial complex, with Ground and First Floor dedicated to retail shops and Second Floor to various food outlets. Rest of the floors above Second Floor are office spaces. The site is divided into two parts because of the crossing of ‘Revenu Rasta’, helping in creating a landscape merging with surroundings. Introduction Delhi Ring Railway is part of Delhi Suburban Railway services. The Ring Railway is a circular rail network in Delhi which runs parallel to Ring Road and was conceived during the 1982 Asian Games. Started in 1975to service goods, it later upgraded for the Games when 25 additional services were started. Route length: 35km Time taken to complete the route: 90-120 mins Starts from: Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station Timings: 8am-7pm Present Condition Presently the service is hardly in use. Daily ridership is only 2000 as compared to Delhi Metro which has 2 million of dialy ridership. Number of train has now reduced to 12 trains only, whereas the Delhi metro has more than 200 trains in total. Although the fare is one-quater of the Delhi Metro, its poor service makes it difďŹ cult to use.

This is a small part of the Urban Design Studio. The scheme is called uptopia as it is designed to achieve a community design which is beyond expectations. It includes a green web around the existing villages and farmhouses in the area. The green web consisted of two cores. Each core has a speciďŹ ed function. The green web including the cores is designed in order to create a public space reaching every part of the site which is the unifying factor. The web gives something to the community and receives from the comunity to be able to distribute to the community. The web consists of various vocational training institutes, which help the already existing village in the area. The area around the web, apart from the village are dedicated towards the housing. Large part of this housing is for footloose population. This category of population has a subsidized rates for housing. In return they share their knowledge in the vocational centres by teaching.

The site for the housing was an area near an urban village in Gurgaon. The housing design was derived in three typologies. One was to extend the urban village, another to create a rejuvnation centre for the long term paitents in a hospital nearby and the third to have a vertical urban village. Green Spine The design has a green spine which starts from a farmland area at the north end. The spine is treated as a public recreational space which run through-out the site. The architectural character changes in all the three typologies but derived from the existing urban village pattern. Urban Village The Urban Village character is designed on the basis of the occupation of the people living in the area, like artisans, workers, bussines holders, etc. the housing is more mixed type hence more sustainable. High Rise The Vertical tower was designed with the same pattern, creating terrace gardens and common green areas for public recreation purposes. Sustainibility The materials chosen are eco freindly, energy saving and cost effective. Near the farmland, there an area deadicated to reed belt, for waste water treatment. Passive design techniques ahve been used to have shaded streets and facades. Each resendential unit is designed with a courtyard to ensure air movement inside the resedential units.

Urban Village

The fabric of the housing typoligies were derived fromm the already existing fabric of Wazirabad Village. The pattern was made more organized and live-able to create more habitable place but retaining the nature of the place. The fabric becomes more spaced out and bigger as we go from right to left in the site. The character and nature of the green spine changes in all the three typologies. In some areas it has a nature of public gathering and in some areas they are semi-private gardens.
