ABOUT ME

HELLO, I’M NATASHA During my education and professional work thus far, my interests have evolved in the domain of design and how it relates to people. Showcased here, you will find designs and other creative work which I have produced over the years. The themes are varied and encompass technical and conceptual development, as well as graphical representation. The showcasing starts from my earliest work, during my Bachelor studies, and then continues with group and individual works from my Master studies. In my Bachelor studies, the skills of concept generation, basic technical skills and concept presentation were in focus. In my Master studies, the accent was on responding to more challenging demands and thus recently I have become more inclined towards new frameworks that address the interaction between products and users and in developing sensing systems and embedded systems devices

Description: Cut-through levitating lamp is an exploration of the possibilities of levitation and light as a visual phenomenon creating a symbiosis of the highest aesthetic values- irrationality and lighting. The basic concept is to levitate part of the lamp, but at the same time, light travels through both of the parts. This is reached with the use of a magnetic fields and a stabilizing element. The levitating part is not connected to the light source and the only lateral support that is provided is the transparent stabilizing element. Its minimalist and yet monolithic lines give an accent on the effect of defying gravity, which is the sudden discontinuity of the form. However, the light is what keeps the aesthetics of the form together. This occurrence of irrationality combined with a unifying lighting effect awakens a certain curiosity. Cut-through lamp is a graduate project of Natasha Tanushevska and has also been exhibited at the MIKSER Festival in Belgrade, as part of the Ghost Project Design Competition. Context: Bachelor studies graduation thesis Year: 2013

Description: The Bean is a concept of an alarm clock which demands physical interaction with the user. Compared to other alarm clocks, the Bean provides adequate visual and auditory ques to remind setting the alarm and turning off the alarm, in order to provide more natural sleep cycle. LSC Labyrinth

Power used for changing labyrinth maze

Description: This concept uses LSC material, semi transparent plates coated/doped with luminescent material. The light concentrates at their edges, and it can be used to generate electricity with solar cells attached. The energy in this case is used to revolve the doors in the labyrinth, creating a dynamic maze. Context: Group project for Master studies course – ‘Sources of Innovation’ Year: 2016 14

Description: In this project, the aim of improving the service of providing student accommodation of the International Office at the UT was tackled through scenarios and personas. Context: Group project for Master studies course – ‘Scenario Based Design Year: 2016 15

D J S E T U P R E D E S I G N /// How can the traditional, already established DJ interface be redesigned so that DJ-ingwill evolve into a richer, more embodied practice, without losing the inherent, already formed skills around it?

• controls around jogwheels; • metronome feedback

16

Description: This research project involved an indepth analysis of the context of DJing, existing patterns of use of the current artefact, and subsequent designing of gestures and architecture of functions. The approach was set to apply embodied interaction ideas. The patterns of use from the analysis of the current artefact were further developed to be embodied within a new artefact. Thus, all of the controls that would normally be on the mixer, were arranged around the jogwheels. To follow and give an output that was crucial, a vibrational metronome was added, by which the user could feel the beat. The cognitive load was thus lowered for the user and made the redesign more intuitive. Context: Master thesis Year: 2019
