Ecosystem Trench
As a space where the citizens love to spend their time walking, playing sports, and having picnics, the central lawn and the surrounding circular trails are places where Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park holds various events from time to time, such as theater performances, music festivals, travel & product exhibition, and other outdoor activities. Surrounded by nature, the general public is invited to enjoy the rich and diverse Hakka lifestyle in a natural setting.
As a waterbody in the park, the Ecosystem Trench collects rainwater and runoff from grasslands, nurturing and providing habitat for many creatures in the park and attracting birds along the Xindian Creek to stay. Ecosystem Trench's waterwheel diverts the water to high rice paddies so that the general public can observe the ecological environment and learn the wisdom of water farming.
Rural Experience Zone
Cross-Dike Platform
Where the park is connected to the Cross-Dike Platform, there are terraced fields that are rarely seen in the city. Spring ploughing, summer cultivation, autumn harvesting, and winter storage present season change throughout the year. Rice fields are open for adoption, off-campus field trips, and public service. Usually, various agricultural activities are held in accordance with the time sequence, allowing the public to experience Hakka culture and food & agriculture education from the rural reality.
Combining comfortable footpaths and bikeways, the Cross-Dike Platform connects Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park, National Taiwan University Shuiyuan Campus, Emerald Riverside Park, Gongguan Night Market, and Treasure Hill Artist Village to create a waterfront sightseeing trail along the Gongguan riverside. Through the connecting platform between the theme park and the riverside park, the general public can enjoy the waterfront that connects humanities, leisure, and sightseeing.
