a little something about me.. I am a highly-motivated interior architect with cross-cultural background. Having grown up, studied and worked in several countries including Belgium, Vietnam and the United Kingdom, I have developped the ability to adapt easily to any social or physical environment and thereby learn quickly. Being raised by a multi-cultural family speaking three languages at home and travelling around the world since my early childhood has helped me develop an open mind and a thirst to learn about a wide range of subjects, from architecture, music and cinema to photography and languages. Through this experience, I have developped an ease to work in groups as well as on my own. A Bachelor Degree in Interior and Spatial Design of the University of the Arts of London (London College of Communication), as well as my working experience in Vietnam and my previous internships have contributed to provide me a wide set of skills specific to the work of interior architecture and design.

TOURISM PAVILION Spring 2008 The briefing was to create a tourism pavilion, located on the Place Flagey in Brussels. It had to be a key information point in the capital. I wanted it to be visible and recongnisable, but keep a transparency at the bottom to allow pedestrians to enjoy the view.

EVN LOBBY

HUE, VIETNAM 2010

Project done at Artema in Vietnam, with the collaboration of 3D technicians. The lobby of this 4 star hotel was based on local materials and a mix of traditional and contemporary interior architecture.

COTEC RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX 2010 This villa is one of 36, built in Vung Tau, South Vietnam, for a large housing complex. For this project I was asked to design the villa into the details as well as manage a team of technicians who helped me draw the CAD plans and followed my precise instructions to realise photo-realistic 3D’s.

FARM RENOVATION IN THE PERCHE, FRANCE 2010 The client’s demand wa to renovate an ancient farm into a contemporary house. He wanted to have a feeling of space and light, and to be able to enjoy the landscape from the inside. The principal solution found to please these demands was by creating a void over the living and dining room as well as adding openings to the existing building.

MERCURE SON TRA VIETNAM 2010 This villa was built on the peninsula of Son Tra in Central Vietnam. It is part of a holiday resort managed by French Hotel Franchise Mercure. For this project I was asked to design the villa into the details as well as manage a team of technicians who helped me draw the CAD plans and followed my precise instructions to realise photo-realistic 3D’s.

PULLMAN HOTEL

HAIPHONG, VIETNAM 2011 As part of a competition, along with my team, we designed two bedrooms for the new Pullman Hotel in Haiphong, the Northern portuary city of Vietnam. The location of the hotel within the city has the great advantage of having the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other, which allows a magnificent view. The first option is a double room with terrace. Option number two is a duplex. For this project, I drew the plans, created the concept of the rooms as well as directed the 3D technicians for them to realise photo-realistic visuals.

TURBINE HALL FOLLIES TATE MODERN Autumn 2011 Having to design Follies for the Turbine Hall in the Tate Modern, my main objective throughout this project was to bring some life and colour into the space. I wanted there to be an interaction between the Hall and the Follies. I have therefore used a combination of coloured glass, water and light projections to support my project.

TRIPIA:

A GASTRONOMIC RESTAURANT IN THE HEART OF BRITISH COUNTRY SIDE Spring 2012 As part of a group project, we were asked to design a unit in Polesden Lacey, a major park and forest about an hour drive away from London. The concept of Tripia is for a unique and influencial experience for those living close by in London to get out of the city way of thinking and go back to their roots at the grounds of Polesden Lacey. The idea behind the design is to give people a chance to do something that isn’t available in the city, but also leave feeling refreshed and revived from the nature and beautiful surroundings of British country side. Visitors are invited to take part in a foraging programme, allowing them to take cooking classes, learn about seasonal foods sourced from the grounds at Polesden and how to make a beautiful meal from scratch with the ingredients they picked by themselves. The food at Tripia is of first rate and made of unusual and surprising ingredients, where highly skilled chefs get the chance to experiment locally sourced ingredients that will excite all of your senses and leave guests with a long lasting memory of the experience.

HEADQUARTERS FOR WINSOR & NEWTON Spring 2012 Located within the Wapping Project, the concept of the new HQ of Winsor & Newton was to play with the interaction between the rigidity of the cubic shape (representing the sientific aspect of the company) and the softness of the trees (art) by using transparent materials and appropriate and delicate lighting to support the intended effect.

CONVERSION OF THE FARADAY MEMORIAL INTO A TRAVELLERS CENTER Autumn 2013

The design and conversion of the Faraday Memorial is based on a game of contrasts between masculin/feminin shapes, hot/cold materials, light/shadow and straight/curved lines. Water is used to reflect the lighting effects and give the illusion of a taller building.

PARTIMI BOUTIQUE HOTEL, STORE & BAR Summer 2014 For this Final Major Project for my BA studies at the University of the Arts London, I was given the opportunity to create a brief by choosing a site as well as its function. I decided to use a site in East London, 233 Shoreditch High Street, as it is the up and coming fashion and art district of London. I have then chosen a young British Designer, for whom I have created a Boutique hotel, a flagship store as well as a bar. The whole design is based on the brand’s, Partimi, personality. Designer Eleanor Dorrien-Smith takes close-up photos of nature and then prints them onto silk and creates women’s wear out of these fabrics. My design is based on the contrasts between simple shapes and complex patterns/textures, as well as a transition from old to new as a metaphor of Shoreditch and the City by playing with the contrast between original and synthetic materials and the overlaying of transparent and opaque materials.
