INSPIRE creativity. ENGAGE passion. CONNECT interest. The most important aspects of civilization and culture are preserved, not in standardized tests or on report cards but in imaginative literature, art, drama, dance and music. Claudia E. Cornett, Ph.D., Professor Emerita, Wittenberg University For the past 47 years, Prologue to the Performing has been a leader in bringing the highest quality live performing arts for young audiences to gymnasiums, libraries and classrooms across Canada. Now more than ever we recognize the importance of providing young people access to work that inspires them to reflect on and challenge the world around them, engages them in passionate exploration of creative expression, and makes meaningful cross-cultural connections in their lives. Whether it is your students’ first experience of opera, an affirmation of dance skills learnt in the classroom, or a celebration of diverse cultures through music, Prologue’s artists will offer your students an experience to remember!

about prologue It all started in 1966 around a lunch table with five young mothers who shared a dream of bringing the best performing arts to all students in Ontario. These dedicated women founded Prologue to the Performing Arts and put together Prologue’s inaugural season of performances. In that first year, Prologue placed 81 performances in Ontario schools, reaching over 24,000 students; in the second year, those numbers doubled. 47 years later, Prologue has become one of Ontario’s most important resources in arts and education, delivering over 2,400 performances to almost 750,000 young people each year.
arts education leadership As an arts education leader, Prologue to the Performing Arts believes that the development of strong partnerships is essential in advocating for arts experiences for all young people.
