INTEGRATED BUILDING DESIGN

There is an increasing need for workforce housing in Miami Beach. This project is an aempt to create affordable housing while emphasizing a sense of community by creating open outdoor areas that can be used for play, to hold workshops, as well as other acvies. This structure can be percieved as a “city within a city” in the sense that the emphasis on the vercality of the apartment towers helps give a sense of identy within the building complex and also provides opportunies for people watching.

A master plan proposal for expanding Morikami Museum & Gardens. This project is the fruit of a group collaboraon, highly influenced by a trip abroad to Japan. Our aim is to further immerse visitors in the tradional Japanese culture as well as address local needs for company retreats and wedding venues. By relying on Japanese concepts such as wabi-sabi and the enzo symbol, we are able to preserve the essence of the site while creang a new and excing addion. OUR PROPOSAL 3D SITE PLAN

This modular laboratory serves as a learning center and living space for two scientists. The building is meant to adapt to Sea Level Rise and resist hurricane-force winds. In addition, this structure provides an elevated public space that activates the building, making it an important node along the Indian Creek Greenway (initially proposed by AECOM.)

DESIGN 08

This project was all about experimenng with form and materiality to generate a pavillion that would acvate the alleys of South Beach. As I conducted site analysis, I observed a prominent characterisc which is that of harsh boundaries marking property extents. The responsive facade system I developed is an aempt to soen the boundary condions and to celebrate rainfall. The skin is meant to capture rain and “swell” as it becomes fuller. Due to limitaons, I simulated the act of swelling with air pumps instead of water.
