PHENOMENAL TRANSPARENCY This project was a study of the body’s movement within a static environment and an analysis of how the body transitions from movement to movement. The specific movement, or movements, being studied here was in three parts: the ape, the man and the god in the context of a staircase. The study began with develop-

ing a clear and connected choreography for the three part movement. The body was then documented for every individual m o v e m e n t within the overall movement, which resulted in a digital model that was created to analyze the relationships created by the movements through overlapping, layering and interpenetration.

PROGRAM STUDY STORAGE T h e o ve r a l l t h e m e o f this project was the programmatic possibility of developing “storage from a disparate entity capable of only functioning as a fixed and heterogeneous space to a more multifaceted

Philadelphia row home. To clarify, the study broke down different programs of a row home and the various items that are commonly used to occupy those programs. In doing this study a universal

and engaging space. This parti for the project was made manifest from a study on materials needed for various spaces in a common

necessity for each program was discovered, storage. So, this project proposed a new way of viewing and engaging storage.

Structural Framework

With the ultimate goal of engaging storage within the overall program, storage is now acting as the universal organizer. Rather than design the traditional programmatic zones, such as rest, hygiene, and living and later designate a storage space for those zones, storage is designed first according to those zones and coreographs circulation, hierarchy and structure. Having centralized storage resulted with a main core in the space that is adjacently split by the three sub zones. Furthermore, the main core connects the three sub zones both to itself and to each other.

Starting with the ground floor, living, storage begins to actively control the users circulation. As the front door is opened it leads directly into storage, which in this case is a closet. Furthemore only after engaging storage can the door close and allow the user to move on to the first floor, hygiene. Here again storage must be engaged in order to use the bathroom. Moreover, in this space the placement of the utilities creates a micro ciruculation. The user begins with placing dirty clothing in the hamper by the door, than follows the circular path within the space. Once engaging the hygiene space, the user can now move on to the final floor, rest. Here storage is less strict and can be used with more freedom.

PARAMETRIC DESIGN INSTALLATION The design requirements for this installation was to produce a foam panel that was parametrically designed in grasshopper, inspired through a pattern in nature and was adaptive to its surrounding context.

located on the Temple University campus. Apart from the pattern and location requirements the design needed to be atleast 70% porous to allow sunlight penetration and be digitally fabricated

The pattern in nature that influenced this design was a dandelion and the context for the instillation was a window panel

through the use of a 3-D CNC machine. My design implemented the fractal and circular nature of the dandelion.
