Brief 1. Secret 7.
I enjoyed Secet 7 because it allowed me to engage with previous hand rendered skills that I was a lot more confident with during my A-Level studies, ahven taken Fine Art. The research I embarked on was quite different to that of other briefs I’d started, because I started off by looking at deeper meanings within the song lyrics themselves, as something to expand on and further develop through the imagery/artwork created. For the CHVRCHES clearest blue song I had quite a lot of fun with the development of it - combining both hand rendered and digital processes led to quite an effective array of outcomes, specifically so with the hand rendered brush strokes that were scanned in. I feel I effectively produced something for this song that represented my idea of the song ideally. I wasn’t as pleased with the outcomes for the other 2 songs, which is why I didn’t submit any of my other designs. Overall I’m pleased with my progress within this brief, and happy with the outcomes.
Brief 2. Toyota Brief. This particular brief has been my favourite - Creating work in relation to a car campaign is something I’d always been interested in through advertisements and work I had seen created prior to undertaking the course.
However, it’s also the brief I encountered the most problems with as a result of my own health. I worked hard regarding the distorted edits - to create an advertising platform that would make the Toyota Mirai identifiable when seen on promotional material, however I perhaps spent too much time on this and too little time on my launch site. I created a launch site to show something that could be presented in the upcoming weeks to the cars release and I’m pleased I did - just because it would give Toyota’s target market something to raise awareness and interest. If it wasn’t for the issues regarding my health - I would have animated the website to show the fragmented aspects in play.
Brief 3. D&AD -John Lewis. This was an extremely difficult brief - not only because it meant having to work with people on other courses, but it meant haven’t to colaborate ideas on a brief that I wasn’t particularly impressed with.
During the course of the brief we all gave our input on each individual stage before we moved on to the next, but becuase we have to present eahc bit that we did invididually it makes it look as if the amount each of us did was marginally less than it was. I created a series of posters that we would use to advertise the autumnal John Lewis range, alongside created the digital mock ups of the window dispay elements before we created the 3D mock up. I also created the proffessional presentation that we would use to submit to D&AD. I’ve learnt valuable skills regarding how to work with other people in a team effectively, however a brief such as this is not something I would partake in again as I’ve noticed my strengths don’t reside with a brief such as this.
