Eko Atlantic Architecture Team: Gensler Locations: Georgia, Arizona, New Mexico, Northern California, Illinois, Mexico City, Minneapolis Building Type: Mixed-Use Area: 1,000,000 sq/ft [phase-01] Buildings: 30 Project Year: 2014 (under construction) EKO Atlantic Marina is a large mixeduse development that revolves around a deep-water marina with direct connection to the Atlantic Ocean. The Marina occupies a peninsula of land that protrudes out into the ocean, offering waterfront views in multiple directions. The parcel contained in the first phase of development is primarily residential units. Residents can enjoy a luxurious, active lifestyle with a direct connection to the sea. We began the design process with the idea of creating a community with a strong sense of place and providing luxury living that exceed the quality of existing market offerings. The adjacent deep water of the Marina is a strong amenity and influenced many of the design decisions. The Marina esplanade will be a curated, luxurious public realm with many fine shops and restaurants. The homes within the project will feel a strong connection to this newlycreated destination and share the spirit of the place. Roles on Project: • • • • • • •

Jujuy Redux Architecture Team: P-A-T-T-E-R-N-S Location: Rosario, Santa Fe Province, Argentina Building Type: Housing Area: 13,50.0 sqm Units: 14 Project Year: 2012 Jujuy Redux is a mid-rise apartment building located in Rosario, Argentina. As our second commission for an apartment building in Argentina [located also on Jujuy street] the project presented the possibility of rethinking urban housing. The project consists of thirteen small, shared-floor units and a Duplex organized in a crossventilated layout. The Ground level provides parking for 10 vehicles, and a common terrace on the 8th floor outdoor leisure spaces. Occupying a corner lot, the new development aims to revitalize Rosario’s traditional neighborhood of “Pichincha”. Adjacent to both the historic downtown and the Parana Riverfront, it enjoys generous street sizes, large amounts of vegetation and a low urban density of cultural heritage, making it the ideal environment for young families and students. As a result, the demand for new mid-rise interventions stands at an all-time high. Roles on Project: • • • •

Incheon Airport T2 Architecture Team: Gensler + Heerim Architects Locations: Incheon, South Korea Building Type: Transportation - Airport Area: 4,200,000 sq/ft Project Year: 2018 Incheon Terminal 2 is designed to surpass all current standards of excellence for international travel. Conceived from the inside out, Gensler, the collaborating design architect in association with Heerim Architects, created a building that calms, refreshes, entertains, and excites passengers while encouraging them to engage with Korean culture. Created with passenger connectivity in mind, this airport has points of entry by bus, car, taxi, or train and reduces passenger connections between transfer flights while providing a spacious, artful community to explore. Once inside, the soaring space features boutique avenues, parks, lounges, and play areas with sunlit spaces that harbor plants and trees. Top tier retail, dining, and entertainment amenities are also present throughout the space. The winged roof owes its form to both structural efficiency and culturally significant images of the mythical phoenix. Roles on Project: • • • • • •

Great Wolf Lodge Architecture Team: Gensler Locations: Georgia, Arizona, New Mexico, Northern California, Illinois, Mexico City, Minneapolis Building Type: Water Park, Entertainment, Retail, Hotel Area: 500,000 sq/ft Keys: 350-550 Project Year: 2013-2019 The story of the Great Wolf Lodge is brought to life and told through an immersive architecture, design, and brand package. New design and brand guidelines help create unforgettable all-inclusive family destination experiences; each resort features a water park, hotel, restaurants, and entertainment options. The design of each lodge transports guests to a north woods cabin with architecture and interiors that create a uniquely branded space. The client challenged the design team to elevate the overall aesthetic, develop new brand and identity standards for their new Georgia resort as they expand globally. This challenge included creating better dining options encouraging guests to stay on site, rather than leave the property to dine. New food and entertainment offerings needed to appeal to tweens and teenagers to turn families into repeat guests as the children age. Roles on Project: • • • • • • •

The Parisian Hotel Macao Architecture Team: Gensler Location: Cotai, Macao, China Building Type: Hotel Resort + Casino Area: 4,600,000 sq/ft Keys: 3,000 Project Year: 2016 Step back in time to fin de siècle Paris and experience all the grandeur of the City of Lights circa 1900. The Parisian Macao is a 4.6-million-square-foot resort and casino with 3,100 rooms and suites on the Cotai Strip, China’s answer to Las Vegas. From the moment guests arrive at the porte cochere below the Eiffel Tower, they are immersed in the sights and sounds of Paris. When approached by Venetian Orient Limited to create a hotel and casino with a Parisian theme, Gensler’s design team began by exhaustively researching the subject. Images from the city’s history were pinned to a massive idea board, narrowing down the concept to Paris at the dawn of the 20th century. Art Deco design was in full flower at that time, and the city has never looked better. An exact replica of the Eiffel Tower as it was in 1900 stands at the front of the hotel. Antique street lamps illuminate pedestrian paths and formal gardens. Rough cobblestone paving slows hotel traffic. The team worked meticulously to make sure that the illusion of fin de siècle Paris is never broken. Roles on Project: • • • • • • •

Shanghai Disney Resort Architecture Team: Gensler + Disney [concept sketches] Location: Pudong, China

Building Type: Theme Park Project Year: 2016 Disney has a rich heritage in animation. It has been the primary vehicle for Disney to tell their stories. As guests move towards the Theme Park, The Front Entry builds on that tradition. This slide explains the progression from simple, black & white, twodimensional origins into fully fleshedout dimensional Three-dimensional characters with dynamic sound. They chose to not follow their prior examples of using Victorian Americana as the building style; they were looking for a more international genre with less (Colonial) cultural baggage. They chose Art Nouveau as another decorative style that is flowery and fanciful, Disney character friendly, and historically neutral within Asian culture. Otto Wagner (exteriors) and Carlo Scarpa (interiors) were chosen as inspiration to guide these utilitarian buildings. Disney’s goal with the Front Entry is to efficiently move people into the Park – but also to begin to introduce their characters to guests. The Front Entry project builds to that same crescendo as their main characters begin to be embodied into the buildings. The sequence through car arrival, parking, guest services, ticket purchase and collection is supported by the intensification of the architecture and the introduction of Disney’s classic characters. Each building builds on the last, culminating in the Mickey-themed Portal Building, which provides the gateway into the Theme Park. Roles on Project: • • • •
