NCH Chamber Music Series 2017/2018

IRISH BAROQUE ORCHESTRA; PRODIGIES AND PREMIERES Driven by the belief that the best things in life stand the test of time, the Irish Baroque Orchestra allow Irish audiences to experience the beauty of baroque music as it was intended to be heard. This series features 17th and 18th century works some of which have never been performed in Ireland before.

Sean Doherty Sonata for baroque violin (premiere) Corelli Sonata with embellishments by Dubourg* Francesco Geminiani Cello Sonata *Dubourg was an English violinist, conductor and composer who spent most of his life in Ireland. Among other achievements, Dubourg led the orchestra at the premiere of Handel’s great oratorio Messiah and was also the Chief Composer and Master of the Music attending His Majesty’s State in Ireland.

MOZART QUINTETS EMILY ANDERSON CELEBRATION Galway born Emily Anderson (1891-1962) was NUI Galway’s first Professor of German. She earned an international reputation as an authority on Mozart and Beethoven, whose correspondence she edited and translated. The critically acclaimed three-volume edition, The Letters of Mozart & His Family, first published in 1938, has remained a classic reference.
