DAYS 1–2 I PORTLAND, OREGON/ASTORIA Board our ship and cruise the Willamette River through downtown, passing under Portland’s eclectic 12 bridges. Sail to the mouth of the Columbia River and visit the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, the Columbia River Maritime Museum, and historic Astoria.* National Geographic Quest, or National Geographic Sea Bird for the entire voyage Meals: 1B, 1L, 2D DAYS 3–5 I COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE/ HOOD RIVER/SNAKE RIVER Cruise into the spectacular canyons of the Columbia River Gorge. Visit the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center, and hike up Beacon Rock, where Lewis and Clark camped. Follow the gorge to the city of Hood River, situated at the foot of majestic Mount Hood. Enjoy a farm-to-table lunch, then visit the Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum or hike through the Twin Mosier Tunnels. Hear from our geologist as we sail through stunning scenery to the Snake River. Meals: 3B, 3L, 3D DAYS 6–8 I PALOUSE RIVER/CLARKSTON, WASHINGTON Explore the Palouse River by Zodiac or kayak, getting up close to basalt cliffs and the 200-foot Palouse Falls. From Clarkston, set out on a jet boat adventure in Hells Canyon. See ancient pictographs and petroglyphs, and listen to a Nez Percé storyteller. Enjoy a tasting of local wines and disembark the next day. Meals: 3B, 2L, 23D

Stephen Cunha Author, Educator Geographer Stephen Cunha spent ten years as a national park ranger in Yosemite and Alaska and recently retired as a geography professor at California’s Humboldt State University.
