DAYS 1–3 I ATHENS, GREECE/NÁFPLIO Arrive in Athens and discover ancient treasures from the Acropolis to the Agora. Explore the excellent Acropolis Museum and see celebrated antiquities at the National Archaeological Museum. Visit the Temple of Apollo and the Forum on the way to seaside Náfplio and enjoy dinner in a local taverna. DAYS 6–8 I DELPHI/METEORA Delve into Delphi’s awe-inspiring ruins; then visit the 11th-century monastery of Hosios Loukas and the hilltop town of Aráhova. Continue north to Kalambáka, where we’ll explore the extraordinary monasteries of Meteora, built atop sandstone megaliths. Later, enjoy a truffle-hunting excursion. DAYS 9–11 I THERMOPYLAE/AEGINA/ATHENS Return to Athens via the historic mountain pass of Thermopylae, and meet with a local expert to discuss the political and economic landscape of contemporary Greece.
