DAY 1 I U.S./SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA/ PUERTO CALDERA Upon arrival in San José, transfer to Puerto Caldera and embark your ship. National Geographic Quest for the entire voyage | Meals: 1D

DAY 2 I OSA PENINSULA In Corcovado National Park, swim in waterfall pools, or trek through the rainforest for a chance to see four species of monkeys. Meals: 1B, 1L, 1D DAYS 3–4 I GOLFO DULCE Venture ashore on the white sands of Playa Blanca; then head inland to visit remote Indigenous communities. Hike in a mature rainforest or kayak in the Golfo Dulce—one of the world’s only tropical fjords. Ride local boats to Rio Seco rainforest in wildlife-rich Piedras Blancas National Park. Meals: 2B, 2L, 2D

DAY 5 I COIBA NATIONAL PARK, PANAMA Explore the pristine coral reefs of remote Isla Coiba while swimming, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding. Meals: 1B, 1L, 1D

DAYS 6–7 I PANAMA CANAL Discover the islets of the Gulf of Panama by Zodiac or kayak, then enter the Panama Canal. Board a Zodiac for a specially arranged visit to Barro Colorado Nature Monument in Gatún Lake, site of a National Geographic–supported wildlife study. Continue through the canal’s complex lock system. Meals: 2B, 2L, 2D

DAY 8 I COLÓN/PANAMA CITY/U.S. Disembark in Colón and transfer to Panama City for your flight home. Meals: 1B

Maria Fadiman Ethnobotanist

National Geographic Emerging Explorer (2006) Maria Fadiman is a conservationist, a TEDx speaker, and an Explorers Club Fellow who has worked in Costa Rica’s rainforests as a naturalist and researcher.
