DAY 1 I BELIZE CITY, BELIZE/ BURRELL BOOM Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer to the town of Burrell Boom is included.
DAY 2 I LAMANAI/BURRELL BOOM Set out on a boat excursion to Lamanai—an ancient Maya archaeological site on the wildliferich New River Lagoon. Explore the sprawling stone ruins with a local guide. Afterward, relax at the hotel.
DAYS 3–5 I SAN IGNACIO Go on a guided tour of the Community Baboon Sanctuary, co-founded by National Geographic Explorer Dr. Robert Horwich and dedicated to the conservation of the endangered Yucatán black howler monkey. Then head to the village of San Antonio to visit a G Adventures–supported women’s cooperative. Try your hand at throwing clay, and learn how to prepare corn tortillas using ancient Maya techniques. Continue to the bustling town of San Ignacio. The next day, discover the stunning Maya ruins of Xunantunich, built over a thousand years ago on a hilltop above the Mopan River. Spend the afternoon at leisure, choosing from a variety of optional activities. Enjoy a free day to explore San Ignacio and the surrounding countryside. Opt to descend into the spiritual “underworld” of the Maya at the Actun Tunichil Muknal cave, visit a butterfly garden, or go canoeing or tubing through the region’s breathtaking limestone caves.
DAYS 6–7 I CAYE CAULKER Drive back towards the coast and catch a ferry to Caye Caulker. Settle into your hotel in this breezy island paradise. The next day, set out to explore on a leisurely bike tour with a local guide. This afternoon, opt for a snorkeling excursion on the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest coral reef on the planet. Come face-to-face with sea turtles, manta rays, parrotfish, nurse sharks, and other fascinating creatures. In the evening, choose to take a relaxing sunset cruise.
DAYS 8–9 I CAYE CAULKER Spend the day at leisure, opting to join a full-day sailing and snorkeling trip to Hol Chan Marine Reserve—the first marine reserve in Belize. Swim alongside schools of tropical fish in this spectacular natural aquarium and visit the Coral Gardens, perhaps spotting a manatee or two among the vibrant coral formations. Cap off the day with a cruise back to Caye Caulker just before sunset. Enjoy a farewell dinner at a popular local restaurant. On our last day, depart at any time. Arrival transfer, all transport between destinations and to/from included activities, and activities as listed in the itinerary. Optional activities are at an additional cost.
