marazzi Human Design
Without the people who live in, homes, buildings and towns are nothing but empty spaces. Aware of this, for more than eighty years Marazzi has designed and produced ceramic surfaces where pragmatism meets beauty, innovation, completes tradition, and technology is shaped to human needs. Marazzi’s exclusive technologies, high standards and reliability are matched with style, taste, a passion for ceramics and a love of beauty. Because when design ends, emotion always begins.
story History
In 1935, the first Marazzi factory is born, a temporary structure supported by parallel lines of popular trees. It produces hand-decorated wall tiles. As early as the 1950s, Marazzi’s focus on new original solutions is already generating the first partnership between ceramic coverings and find design: in 1960, Gio Ponti and Alberto Rosselli shape the 4 curves “Triennale” tile. It is the start of a dialogue which brings together cutting-edge ceramic coverings and top names from fashion, art, design and architecture in the Marazzi Style Centre and laboratories, gradually creating new products and new expressive languages for ceramics, interpreted by leading international photographers.
Today, Marazzi is still working with outstanding names and translating the latest home design trends into unique, exclusive ceramic coverings, known all over the world.

Environmental values
The environmental quality of the entire Marazzi industrial production cycle is certified in accordance with the highest international standards. As long ago as 1994, Marazzi was the first company in the ceramic sector to obtain certification of its quality system under the ISO 9001 standard, later followed by ISO 4001 certification of its environmental management system. Marazzi has also assessed products environmental impact throughout their life cycle, from extraction and processing of raw materials through to recycling of demolition spoil and the findings of this “life cycle assessment” (LCA) are published in the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). Thanks to the environmental quality of the entire industrial production cycle, all Marazzi’s ceramic and porcelain stoneware are eligible for LEED® credits for buildings.

Travertine has been a go to luxury architectural stone since ancient Rome, when it adorned the world-renowned Colosseum. It was also a favoured by 20th century modernists, such as Mies van der Rohe’s classic 1929 design for the Germany Pavilion at the International Exposition in Barcelona. This iconoclastic design continues to inspire designers today; from PTW Architect’s 2011 Art Gallery of New South Wales, to be architects’ banded grey house façade in Melbourne in 2021.
Now this timeless material has been faithfully reproduced and refreshed in technical porcelain in the Italian-manufactured Mystone Travertino collection. This richly-detailed range offers the restful neutral tones and delicate surface figuring of the natural stone with the low maintenance, strength, and unsurpassed wear resistance one expects from the finest porcelain stoneware tiles.
Mystone Travertino faithfully delivers the patterns of terrestrial limestone deposits, but without the porosity of the natural stone which often requires fillers. Mystone Travertine delivers an identical aesthetic, in a fully vitrified material: quite simply the best of all worlds.
The authentic appearance of Mystone Travertino is due to Marazzi’s skilful application of Sublime Sync digital printing. This is capable of reproducing all the subtle details and imperfections of the source material with great accuracy, while ensuring that the pattern connects with the structure.
Mystone Travertino is available in three colours. Classico delivers the typical pale beige of traditional travertine; while Navona is a slightly warmer neutral tone. The third option is Silver, a hugely popular hue for today’s modern minimalist look with a delicately striped vibe.
Mystone Travertino comes in three finishes including a matt finish produced with Marazzi’s sector-defining ptv glaze. Home owners will really appreciate the market-leading StepWise surface finish which combines a soft touch with an impressive R10 slip resistance. This means that true inside-out design can be achieved with an identical tile adorning both internal and external spaces.
There is also a wave-effect relief surface - struttura - that provides a striking 3D finish for feature walls. Finally there is a traditional relief slip-resistant exterior finish with an outstanding R11 slip resistance rating.
