In a year where flights were grounded, we were forced to look for design inspiration elsewhere. Instead of visiting Adriatic villas & Scandinavian saunas, we found a greater appreciation for what can inspire us much closer to home. Our surroundings tend to influence, and indeed reflect our design decisions, and maybe all the inspiration we need is already around us. Each suburb has its defining characteristics, and one of my favourite destinations is Carlton. This area is home to numerous gorgeous Italian restaurants and wine bars, and rich in cultural tones. Walk down any street and you can't help but be inspired by the beautiful, tiled facades in rich jewelled tones, reminiscent of our Marrakech & Paloma range. Or the beautiful delis & gelato parlours with stunning terrazzo floors similar to the new colours in our Elegante Terrazzo range. The beauty of these surroundings can be incorporated into our own spaces. The tiled facade becomes a feature wall. The terrazzo floors become a way to upgrade a bathroom or kitchen space and add some luxury terrazzo to create a stunning new bathroom. Inspiration is everywhere.
