MICHAEL DELSHAB

NATIONAL MANAGER, TIMBER

michael Delshab joined National Tiles eight years ago, working his way up in the business from a part-time salesperson in the Sunshine store to being an integral part of the Victorian Business Development Team. Michael was recently promoted to the role of National Manager for Timber and Resilient Flooring. “National Tiles is a fantastic company to work, with such a positive culture. There are so many opportunities to learn and grow. I am really looking forward to giving 100% effort to my new role.” Originally from Persia, now known as Iran, Michael grew up in an environment that is very different to the Australian way of life. When Michael’s wife decided to complete her PhD at Melbourne University, the couple moved to Melbourne and made Australia their home. Explains Michael, “Life in Iran is actually a fair bit more lively really than Melbourne! Shops are open until late, and we would go to restaurants at 9pm or 10pm and stay there until the early hours of the morning. There are many differences, but similarities as well of course. We all enjoy spending time with family and friends. We have grown to love the relaxing, more laid-back way of life here. It’s a beautiful place to call home.

My favourite childhood memory is…

Summer trips with my uncles, aunts and cousins to our beach house, where we used to stay for two or three weeks during the summer and just had fun.

I am passionate about…

I’m passionate about is self-development and selfimprovement in my personal life. I’m always looking to challenge myself and learn new things.

On the weekend you will fi nd me…

Playing tennis in the morning and relaxing in restaurants for the rest of the day.

My ideal dinner menu is…

Oyster with burnt butter dressing, eye fi llet steak with red wine jus and truffl e caramel.

I am inspired by…

My father. He always worked hard and fi nished every task that he started. He truly enjoyed the work that he did. I want to work just as hard as he did, love the work that I do and progress in my career

One thing most people don’t know about me is…

I’ve got black belt in Taekwondo

My favourite home design style is…

I like the Mid-Century Modern design aesthetic more than other styles and also a rustic design that is comfortable, warm, and inviting.

The best advice I have been given is…

Change your thinking, change your life.
