Finding the perfect venue should be top of your list, the venue itself will certainly hold the biggest price tag. There are so many different types of venue to chose from, the fairytale castle, the rock n roll barn and the vintage setting. Venues however can be booked at least one year in advance, so ensure you get your names and dates down as fast as possible to save disappointment.
Always go to the venue and see its surroundings, and grounds in person, picturtes can be great but you need to get a good feel f� the venue in person, meet some of the sta� so you know exactly what you are getting. Stick to the budget, venues can be very expensive, dont blow all of your budget on the venue... and keep your guests in mind too... is the distance reasonable, is there accomodation near by? Can it hold all of the guests you want to invite?

To pay homage to our unconventional beginning, we incorporated this into our wedding signage, playfully declaring that our love started with a punch. As my groom is Welsh our guests were also welcomed with a Croeso i'r briodas (welcome to the wedding) sign. Nautical Nuptials Given my husband's naval background, we decided to infuse our love story with a touch of nautical charm. Each table was named after a ship he had sailed on, adorned with navy hats featuring his ships' cap tally—a subtle yet meaningful detail that added a personal touch to our reception. This not only celebrated his dedication to the navy but also allowed our guests to learn about the adventures that shaped our love. These doubled as playful accessories for the evening celebration, with us having photographs of nearly every guest wearing one. Personalised Favours with a Maritime Twist To carry the maritime theme into our favours, we opted for cupcakes decorated with stars—a nod to the sailor's guide in the night sky. The cupcakes not only delighted our guests' taste buds but also served as a sweet reminder of our unique love story. Consider incorporating elements that resonate with your shared experiences to create favours that tell your tale. Capturing Moments in Style Your wedding is a series of moments that should be captured in a way that reflects your story authentically. We invested in a photographer who understood our vision and our need to have photographs that weren't posed. Handmade Woodland Jewellery Inspired by the Chiltern Countryside, Caroline from Notion Jewellery creates woodland themed jewellery from recycled gold and silver with ethically sourced gemstones. Created in her well-equipped garden studio, she captures the wonderful textures and details found in nature from direct impressions of leaves, seeds and twigs. Her oak leaf and acorn range is all created from moulds taken from one oak tree in a small hamlet just outside Tring which creates a strong connection to nature across the seasons within the range. All the woodland themed jewellery is created from castings from actual trees, plants. Caroline has a wide range of woodland jewellery readily available in silver and gold, both 9 and 18ct, but can also create pieces that have been cast from an impression of your own tree or plant. Perhaps a tree where you are getting married or one that has special memories for you and your partner? Jewellery can also be created by repurposing your own sentimental heirloom jewellery, giving a new life to a no longer worn, but treasured piece. Her current range includes oak, beech, sycamore, holly, sage, ginkgo, apple and blackberries but Caroline is always exploring new ideas with lichen, a range of new twig rings, hazel nuts and ivy to be added this year. It can take number of months to create an individual piece from the first ideas to completion, so be sure to allow plenty of time. Leaves need to be fresh when the impressions are taken so it is important that any plant material is kept in a sealed plastic bag as soon as it’s picked and quickly sent to Caroline for casting. Leaves are best picked in the spring and early summer, before they start to turn for autumn. Twigs can generally be cast at any time of year but in early spring the forming buds make wonderful casting for rings and bangles. Matching cufflinks and bridesmaid gifts are also available.
