VIMUTTI HOSPITAL LOCATION : BANGKOK YEAR 4 INTERIOR DEPARTMENT

HOSPITAL DESIGN WAS CHALLENGED BY THE PERCEPTION OF HOSPITAL ITSELF, IT IS UNDENIABLE A SCARY DANGEROUS - CHAOTIC PLACE. MY DESIGN IS TO ORGANIZE BETWEEN PATIENT AREA AND SERVICE AREA, TURN THEM INTO A CO-EXIST ENVIRONMENT, BY THE CONCEPT CALM IN THE CHAOS SEPERATE THE PATIENT FROM CHAOTIC CIRCULATION, HIDE UNWANTED SCENES WITH THE LEAST COMPLICATE DESIGN TO GENERATE A CALM, WELCOME AND WARM PLACE BEST FOR HEALING.


CALM IN THE CHAOS


INTERIOR ELEMEMTS ARE SIMPLE, EXCLUDE UNNECCESSARY DETAILS AND USING A COMBINATION OF CALM COLOURS. IN THE FIRST FLOOR WHICH WILL BE THE FIRST IMPRESSION, I CREATE A CALM REFLECTIVE POOL THAT EVERY SEATING LOOKING AT, TO BE THE MAIN FOCUS FOR EVERYONE TO ABSORB THE NATURAL CALMNESS. THE LIGHTING ABOVE IS ANOTHER ELEMENT TO CAPTURING NATURE 'RAIN' CHARACTER WHICH HELP MAKES THE AMBIENCE MORE RELAX AND SOOTHING CLEAR AND WIDE CIRCULATION ARE PREPARED FOR ANY EMERGENCY CIRCUMSTANCES AND MANY WHEELCHAIRS POSSIBLE. THESE PATIENTS HAVE TO TOLERATE WITH SICKNESS NOT ONLY PHYSICALLY BUT ALSO MENTALLY WITH A VERY CLEAR WIDE CIRCULATION ,EASY TO UNDERSTAND ROUTE. THE SEATING ARE ALSO FAR APART FROM EACH OTHER TO CREATE PRIVATE AREA. I DECIDED TO PLACE A EYE-FOCUS IN THE MIDDLE WHICH IS THE KEY TO GENERATES CALMNESS IN THIS FLOOR BY CHOSING A CLEAR , LESS LEAF TREE TO REDUCE DETAILS. AND GROUP THEM WITH GLASS THAT CREATE REFLECTION TO HELP DRAWN PATIENTS MIND TO FOCUS AND CREATE IMAGINATION TO REDUCE STRESS AND ANXIETY BEFORE GET IN THE EXAMINATION ROOM

THEN SPECIALISED THE SPACE BY A TOUCH OF THAI-RED COLOUR แดงน้ำหมาก WHICH I CONSIDERED AS A TIMELESS RED. THAI-RED COLOUR ALSO GET ALONG WITH OTHER MATERIAL QUITE WELL. LASTLY THE COLOUR PRESENTS THE THAI CHARACTER OF THE OFFICE.

SYMMETRICAL IS A CRUCIAL DESIGN CONCEPT THAT AFFECTS A LOT IN THAI ARCHITECTURE WHICH STILL REMAIN TIMELESS NOWADAYS AND DEFENITELY REFLECT HERE IN OUR OFFICE.


VIVA LA VIDA MEXICAN RESTAURANT LOCATION : EKKAMAI , BANGKOK YEAR 3 INTERIOR DEPARTMENT “VIVA LA VIDA” MEANING AS “LONG LIVE LIFE” MEXICAN PEOPLE HAVE A DIFFERENT ASPECTS ABOUT LIFE IN A VERY INTERERESTING WAY, EVEN IN A LIMITED AND POOR SOCIETY THEY ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO APPRECIATE IT, HAVE FUN AND TURN BAD INTO GOODS.

TO CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF FUN, FRIENDLY SPIRIT OF MEXICAN SOCIETY I CHOSE TO RENOVATE THE NORMAL HOUSE INTO STAIRCASE DINING WHICH IMITATE SHOW-WATCHING SEATS SO PEOPLE CAN OVERLOOK BOTH STAGES AND CONNECT THEM TOGETHER.

STAIRCASE DINING ALSO CONNECTED PEOPLE TOGETHER AND ACT AS ONE BIG FAMILY DINING TABLE.


I DECIDED THAT PEOPLE WILL ENTER THE REATAURANT FROM MEZZANINE FLOOR TO CHANGE THEIR PERSPECTIVE AND THEIR FIRST GLANCE OF THE RESTAURANT WILL BE “LOOKING DOWN” “LOOKING DOWN” WHICH MOST OF THE TIMES MEANING BAD BUT HERE THEY GOING TO SEE A BEUTIFUL AND FUN SIGHT OF THE RESTAURANT. THE STAIRCASE DINING WILL LEAD THEIR FOCUS TO DANCE FLOOR PARTY UNDERNEATH THEM TO IMPLIED THAT “LOOKING DOWN” COULD BE FUN AND BEAUTIFUL TOO.

DOWN SIDE UP MATERIAL BROKEN GLASS TO MAKE BEAMING LIGHT EFFECTS. “KINTSUGI WALL” AN ART THAT EMPHASIZE BROKEN LINE (WHICH CONSIDERED AS FLAWS) INTO BEAUTY. ROUGH PLASTER - COLOURED WALL,MEANING THAT FLAWS COULD TURN TO BEAUTY DEPENDS ON YOUR PERSPECTIVE. MATERIAL WILL BE USE IN VIVID COLORS TO CAPTURE TRUE MEXICAN CHARACTER.


OUTDOOR AREA WAS DESIGNED FOR A DRINKING, NIGHT PARTY TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS AT NIGHT AND GIVE THEM A MEXICAN PARTY EXPERIENCES WITH TEQUILAS AND MAGARITAS!

OTHER THAN THAT, I USE CONFUSIONAL SCALE AND LOGIC TO CHANGE THE WAY THEY USED TO SEE THE WORLD AND THE VARIETY AND UNUSUAL SELECTION OF FURNITURE ALSO REPRESENTS MEXICAN FUN - LIVELY CHARACTER. FROM THE PICTURE, I BROUGHT CURTAINS THAT MOSTLIKELY STAYED INDOORS OUT AND CONFUSE PEOPLE WITH UNUSAUL HUGE SCALES. ON THE OTHER HAND, LOOKING IN FROM OUTSIDE,YOU WILL SEE PENDANT THAT IMITATES MOON, IN ORDER TO CONFUSE PEOPLE THAT MOON/SUN ARE NO LONGER IN THE SKY BUT INSIDE THE RESTAURANT INSTEAD.


THE CLOSER SERVICED APARTMENT 4 BUILDINGS LOCATION : BANGKOK YEAR 3 ARCHITECTURE DEPARTMENT UNDER LIMITED AREA ,THE ARCHITECTURE MUST REACHED BOTH AESTHETHIC AND ECONOMIC DISIRE OF THE PROGRAM OWNER. I CHOSE TO BRING EACH BUILDING CLOSER TO EACH OTHER TO LET EACH CREATE A SPACE THAT BENEFITS BOTH ITSELF AND OTHER BUILDINGS NEARBY.


IN RESULT OF AREA LIMITATION, I DECIDED TO LAY THE BUILDING OVERLAPPINGLY TO LET ALL BUILDING HAS ITS OWN GARDEN AREA. THEN SOLVED THE PROBLEM OF SOME ROOM THAT ARE TOO CLOSE TO ANOTHER BY ADDING GARDEN IN EVERY 2 LEVELS, ARRANGED IT DIFFERENTLY ON LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE AND PLACE THE NEXT BUILDING BY FLIPPING IT THE OTHER WAY IN ORDER TO CREATE GARDEN VIEW FOR THE OTHER ROOM NEXT TO IT.



PEOPLE NORMALLY AVOID ANY ROOM THAT PLACE CLOSE TO ANOTHER BUILDING BECAUSE OF PRIVACY REASON. BUT HERE THE CLOSER THE MORE NATURE AND THE BETTER VIEW.

ON THE OVERLAPPING AREA I DECIDED TO CONNECT ALL BUILDINGS WITH TERRACE LOBBY TO CONNECT PEOPLE TOGETHER AND MAKE THE LIMITED SPACE LOOK EVEN WIDER


AMA’S CHAIR YEAR 4 FURNITURE A DINING CHAIR DESIGNED FOR GRANDMOTHER. OUR MAIN CONCERN IS TO DESIGNED A CONVENIENT CHAIR FOR ELDERS WHO HAS HARDTIME GETTING UP AND UNABLE TO LEAVE THE CHAIR BY THEMSELVES. OUR SOLUTION IS SHORTEN ONE OF HANDRAILS TO ALLOW ELDERS TO TURN AND GETUP EASILY, WITH OUT MOVING THE CHAIR. AND ALSO REMAIN SOME HANDRAIL SPACE FOR THEM TO PLACE THEIR HAND AND PUSH THEMSELVES UP WHILE THEIR OTHER HAND PLACE AT THE EDGE OF TABLE.
