Pulling apart the fabric of work, work functions to balance our 24h lives into an enriching life. Separating work from life balance, disconnecting from the rat race. Separating the noise to create quiet, separating the quiet with nature to

The void creating separation is seprate.

Architecture separates us from the hustle bustle of the city by creating voids to organize areas and within networks create isolate d areas to disconnect and reconnect. Separating us from impersonal/ formal interaction and creating pers onal/ informal int eraction. Architecture directs our movem- ents, emotions and behaviour, creatin g areas for different functions; for m- ediation, for work, for play, and for commmunity. The voids are the sep- artation betwteen spaces, creating spaces of quiet,

form and form shaped by void creates spaces. Void created in form based on space creates a “place” . Void is the necessary and meaningful silence, helps us positive relaxation. The void helps to bring the wealth of soul and creative ideas.

The Cube

It all started with a square, a seemingly simple and true form to the mathematical and build environment.

Working with the new grid movement which serv s as a geometric nod to UAE traditional weaving in a 2 dimensional flat plan started to form 3D cube. Using a 8x8 grid throught to create a 40x40x 40 cube.

a cube, a purely platonic shape in mathematics associated with the most solid and stable of all platonic shapes, ironically known as the architect in the spiritual realm.

It represents truth - all equal sides

It represents stability and foundation emphasised in the built industry

And further it represents enlightenment, knowledge,

Represents devotion

All of which my client DPPA stands for.

Stability for those in crisis, the truth for those who are in political arrest and knowledge for everyone to be enlightened to the needs of others.

Adding the new movement to the cube in the 2 dimensional space, a thought provoked metronome cube is formed . 3d on a 2d plane

Metetron cube: icosahedron and tetraheden to creat movement Path between the voids creating a seperation of activities and movement.

Ground square cube - earth, top enlightment and knowledge, right, left

Triangle Tetragon -fire harmony equilibrium balance connecting entry to the library, library to the void gardens, gardens to the ai offices and icosahedron - trust in the wisdom of the universe is needed with a willingness to allow others to assist in the situation

Connecting AI to conference, library to quiet rooms and gardens, exhibition to elevated cafe

Joined all together for the merkhaba star from earth to enlightment creating the universe in a building form.

The form of the building was devised by the soma cube pull apart to for voids to seperate functions and create connection parths

Soma cube is a 3d like Tetris formed using mathematics. There are 288 iterations of the soma.

Fun fact

Pi- fastest time to solve a soma cube is 1.34 minutes. Easy as Pi.

Functions

Largest shape full length to create the conference able to seat all 193 UN delegates,

Opposite to that was the second largest the T shape for the AI office and air cafe. On the ground level the twisted z was used for the exhibition to create decent into darkness of exhibition to come up to the light. The lobby the angled T was used and finally the 2nd twisted z was used for the ground cafe and 2 story library with loft nets as platforms

The z through the center of the cube was utilized as access and voids.

OUR VISION AND PILLARS

Based on our understanding on the clients requirements, our pillars our

•To optimize resource use

•Reduce the impact on the environment

•Utilize natural capital

•Future proof the design

In this project we aim to reduce the demand for energy and water. Create a design where the environmental damage is at a minimum and allows an engaging user experience. We also aim to make the design resilient to future scenarios.

The Bu Tinah island is a cluster of islands and shoals joined at almost - meters of water above the sea level. In addition to that, the island is surrounded by natural mangroves and unique coral reefs, which survive at conditions that would kill coral species that live in other parts of the world .The waters of the island are also home to the planets› second largest population of dugongs.
