PIY: PERFORM IT YOURSELF
Inspired by the term, “Do it yourself” (D.I.Y.), Perform it Yourself (P.I.Y.) is designed to train students from any discipline to form a creative performance and build inventive instruments by utilizing their individualities and skills through performance and new composition The course offers the history and techniques of contemporary compositions that focus on aspects of creating performances and inventing new instruments. Students will develop their own solo and group projects which include performance laboratory and P.I.Y. Compositions students will learn contemporary pieces in a creative environment, ultimately, students will compose new pieces and organize their own performances during the semester The course will also provide topics including the analysis of theatrical/inventive notation, music and multimedia, technology in composition, and experimental art performance. The course was initiated by Cornell University as part of Dr. Louilarpprasert’s Don M. Randel Research Fellowship 2022.
PIY course is offered by Princess Galyani Vadhana Insitute of Music as the Music Initiative Course for students and the public The course is kindly supported and initiated by the School of Music, PGVIM, Dr. Komsun Dilokkunanant and Siravith Kongbandalsuk.
