Fixings

Fibrolit Boards on Interior Walls

Plycem screws countersink on the board to hide the screw head. An important detail for the application is verifying that every element being fixed is placed exactly as indicated in the diagram. The screw shall be placed at right angle from the board surface and be ensured that at least 3 three screw treads protrude the steel framing.

Fibrolit Ceilings Types

Constructive element that visually defines the appearance of a room. The Ceilings give the room a lift. The Fibrolit ceilings has with marked unions, of a smooth and finished surface, that generate a free space (plenum) between the Roof Framing and the real ceiling.

Anchored Ceilings Those having a metal or wooden structure that serves as a direct bearing for sheets anchored in the bottom part.

Paneled Ceiling An exposed wooden rafters, with decorative purposes, that serves as a bearing for sheets that will be installed by their upper part.

Ceilings Fibrolit ceilings are highly versatile. Elaborated with cement, they can be used on exterior and humid areas, supported on an adequate structure or framing, and on interiors, for buildings of residential, commercial, industrial & institutional use

The cross-section of the beams must be carefully reviewed,an adequate structural cutting, a minimum supporting width of 5 cm (2") at the meeting point of sheets. It can be modulated in a lesser format or equivalent to that of the boards, but shall be no greater than 24"x24" squares.

Perimetric support

d = 609mm (23 - 31/32”) d1 = 611mm (24 - 1/16”)

Perimetric angle, anchored to the walls. Defines perimeter of ceiling and determines the horizontal level. Load profile, structurally designed bear the load of the ceiling; holds the supporting framework on its lower part, and is generally fastened to the higher structure by auxiliary supporting elements. Bearing profiles, omega-shaped or "U"- shape. They constitute the direct support of the boards. At the meeting area of two boards, the minimum width should be 5 cm (2").

Dry zone interior walls Wet zone interior walls

Aplication FIBROLIT PLYCEM interior walls may be safely used in residential houses, public, commercial, or institutional buildings, and any kind of new building or remodeling in urban, industrial, rural or agro-industrial areas.

1 Dry zone interior walls Those found in areas not exposed to moisture. They generally divide aisles, bedrooms and other dry areas.Internal partitions

Components The PLYCEM FIBROLIT interior walls good quality and performance depend to a great extent on the quality of its components; that is why PLYCEM offers a portfolio with the necessary products to obtain a complete solution.

2 Wet zone interior walls Those exposed to the temporary or permanent action of humidity, such laundry areas, bathrooms, laboratories, kitchens.

DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS Interior walls are exposed to different demands that should be considered when designing and building them: • Acoustic Insulation • Thermal Insulation • Installations • Fire Prevention • Seismic Stability • Anchoring Furniture • Finishes and Coatings • Impermeability • Openings for Doors and Windows • Maintenance To comply with the above, it’s highly recommended that a qualified professional is in charge of designing, calculating and supervising each project.

"C" shaped profile, used at the coupling point between two sheets. To guarantee enough support, and prevent the appearance of fissures at fixing points, it’s recommended to strictly comply with the "minimum width" recommendations. Intermediate Stud (PI) Its generic form is similar to the Joint support. It differs in the section’s width in contact with the sheet; used as intermediate supporting element in-between joint profiles. Track (PA) "U" shape profile, used as bottom and upper fastening crossbeam in vertical profiles.

It’s a very familiar and friendly option for builders; wood must be of very high quality and of uniform cutting, industrially treated to guarantee its dryness, resistance to wearing and insect attack.

Fibrolit boards

Square Edges

Screws, plastic plugs, expansion bolts, nails, anchors, and other elements constitute the most frequently used solutions for anchorage or fixing structure of walls to the primary structure of a building. It’s recommended to use elements protected against corrosion, following the manufacturer’s recommendations for a correct installation.

Sanded

On account of this, it's recommended to use the fixing elements designed by PLYCEM. We can group them basically in two:

Wood-grain texture

Availability must be checked in each country.

Boards PLYCEM boards that are recommended for interior walls should be selected according to the typology of use for the wall: · Dry Walls. Sheets of a minimum thickness of 8 mm. · Wet Walls. Moisture-proof sheets, of a minimum thickness of 0,43” (11 mm). · High Traffic Walls. Sheets of a minimum thickness of 0,43” (11 mm). Nominal commercial sizes available are: 1220 x 2440 mm. (48” x 96”) 1220 x 3050 mm. (48” x 120”) It's possible to find different surface finishes, their availability to be checked in every country.

In all applications, a good performance depends to a great extent in adequately fixing the structures that constitute the basic support of the sheets and of properly fixing the sheets to this structure. Different factors contribute to this, like: • Type of Structure. • Distribution and placement of the structure. • Tracing to correctly locate the screws. • Use of adequate tools. • Movement in structural system. • Expansion and contraction of sheets • Treatment of Joints.

Seals and Additives When the finishing stage of a wall comes, it's required to treat joints between sheets, and give a final treatment to the surface; this requires use of a list of specifically designed supplementary products. Among them are rigid or flexible chemical sealants, for finishing joints, stabilizing putties annd compounds to improve the surface of sheets, adhesives to install tile and glazed tile, which are some of the special products included in this portfolio.
