ISURA is an independent, non-profit analytical testing and certification organization. ISURA is committed to championing the Natural Health Products (NHP) industry by helping it produce science-based products that stand up to its harshest critics. ISURA’s mandate is to serve as a resource and provide certification services for stakeholders throughout the NHP supply chain with a goal of:

• Augmenting the safety of NHPs

• Ensuring label accuracy

• Increasing consumers’ confidence in NHPs

• Providing education on NHP products

• Supporting research and development for improved test methodologies and analytical equipment

The standards for ISURA’s certification services for NHPs are among the world’s highest. They meet or exceed international standards for natural health products set by organizations such as:

• ABC (American Botanical Council)

• CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency)

• CRN (Council for Responsible Nutrition)

• EU (European Union)

• FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration)

• HC (Health Canada: NNHPD)

• TGA (Therapeutic Goods of Administration of Australia)

• USP (United States Pharmacopeia)

• WHO (World Health Organization)

Furthermore, ISURA’s laboratories meet strict Standards Council of Canada guidelines for laboratories, and ISO 17025 laboratory standards.

To earn the ISURA seal of approval, products must undergo a battery of laboratory tests that confirm that a product’s actives and excipients are:

ISURA’S SEAL OF APPROVAL

ISURA’s core mandate is to serve as an analytical competence centre for the analysis of natural health products (NHPs) at all stages of processing and manufacturing.

The ISURA seal of approval is a scientific certification. It is only granted to products that have undergone and passed ISURA’s stringent battery of laboratory tests. The seal is emblematic of the trust that consumers can exercise in ISURA certified products.

Traceability

The authentication and integrity of finished products will increasingly rely upon the traceability of actives and excipients. ISURA has in place test protocols and analytical equipment that enables it to deliver on this higher level of confidence in ISURA certified products.
