KID-FRIENDLY SNACKS by @CLEANLITTLEPLATES

APPLE SLICE TUNA SANDWICHES

A perfect alternative for your little bread-lovers to try! Mash up tuna, avocado, lemon juice, a dash of salt, and set aside. Drizzle a bit of lemon on apple slices to prevent browning, then add your tuna mixture. Easy, filling, and crunchy delish!

PINEAPPLE-INFUSED CUCUMBER Pairing fruits with veggies is a veggie hack in itself, and this might be the greatest combination yet. Cut cucumbers and pineapple, combine, refrigerate for an hour (or overnight), and serve. The pineapple juice totally infuses the cucumbers and the kiddies don’t even bother trying to resist it. It’s magical!

HALF-SWEET CHIA CHOCOLATE COCONUT YOGURT Coconut yogurt comes in so many delicious flavours, but like any sweetened yogurt, it also comes with a lot of added sugars. The solution? Buy two containers of Yoso coconut yogurt: one chocolate and one plain. You will save money by buying the larger sizes (vs single portions) and you will reduce the amount of sugar going to school with your child—without losing the flavour they love. Stir in a teaspoon of chia seeds for added fibre, protein, and good fats!

PLAYGROUND MIX This simple nut-free trail mix fuels their bodies, their minds, and their play! Pumpkin seeds, goji berries, and Nature’s Path Rice Puffs. Mix and serve.

VEGAN ‘NICE KRISPIE’ TREATS

My healthy spin on an old kid’s favourite! It’s as easy as 1-2-3! 1. Pour 4 cups Nature’s Path Rice Puffs into a mixing bowl. 2. Pour cup brown rice syrup and ½ cup peanut butter into a mug and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir. 3. Pour sticky mixture into rice cereal and combine it. Pat the mixture into a parchment-lined 8x8 casserole dish and pop in the freezer to harden up. I highly recommend adding melted chocolate on top, because chocolate!
