PAST
PSEAD COURSE
FUTURE
When I was an elementary school student, my teacher read us aloud picture books, "Swimmy" and "Frog and Toad Are Friends." After that, I loved English language
During ten weeks of the presessional course, I got a little bit of confidence because I made foreign friends and our classes are very funny. However, I have some anxiety when I stay alone to become scared of communication hence, I want to change myself, I'd like to talk more, get out of my comfort zone more, and nowadays,
I have a dream making advertisements and commercials to support some magazines. One of Japanese drama’s' hero who works in publishing company said "We have invisible wings. If you want great wings, you should read many books. A shape of books looks like birds. When you read many books, it will be powerful wings, after that, you can fly everywhere." Therefore, I strongly believe that a lot of books can be assisted by various people so I will start first IFAD, and then Fashion Promotion and Imagine course it includes visual communication.
I went to the technical college of art and design in Japan last year where I made my portfolio and I became interested in advertisements and commercial but my sketchbook is always includes drawing so my teacher recommended to me a visual communication course.
I have a huge curiosity about everything. If I can beat this fear, surely I will be that much closer to the strength I desired so I want to learn more.
HELLO MY NAME IS
Sunny What have you learned from the PSEAD course? I learned several things in PSEAD course. First, independence, when I came here I always follow my friends because my English was very bad. I think my English level has a huge Shopping, Design. progress, I like chatting with my International friends FUTURE COURSE: IFADM using English, I enjoy this feeling because I can GOAL: To enjoy my life to the fullest explore different cultures.
PAST I did not know what my aim was and what I should have done before I turned 18 years old. However, my first University changed my mind, I had an aim that I wanted to be a fashion designer, therefore I applied for my second University at the UK, because I believed the UK was better than China in the fashion industry.
PSEAD COURSE When I came to UCA I got a lot of rewards. First, my English got better., English is not a big trouble for me now. Secondly, although PSEAD course was a language course, we went to different exhibitions once a week, therefore, I received a great dose of art and design. The most importantly, project 4 made me realise a new understanding for fashion. Before I just wanted to make beautiful clothes and never paid attention to environment protection and cultural fusion, but now I need take into account the ethics of fashion industry if I want to be a successful designer in the future.
FUTURE I want to use a material that can be recycled to make my clothes. I think this way we can reduce damage for the planet earth. Next, I want to mix the cultures of East and West in my clothes, because I would like to promote culture exchange. That is my plan for future

Hiroki Where do your inspirations come from? NAME: Hiroki Kawanami NATIONALITY: Japanese LANGUAGE: Japanese & English INTERESTS: Product Design FUTURE COURSE: IFADM GOAL: Speak english better
I got a lot of inspiration from a Japanese brand and designer NAOKI FUKAZAWA (MUJI) and OKI SATO (nendo). Their design is simple, cool, and convenient. This brand style has attained popularity around the world. So, I really admire their style and I would like to be like them in the future.
PAST I was studying Economics in a Japanese university. However, I decided study product design. The reason why I became interested in product design was because I tried environmental protection activity in a university program and I was inspired by environment friendly products and systems. In addition, I really want to further improve my design and English skills in UK.
PSEAD COURSE This program has always really stimulated me. I learned a lot about art and design from various aspects for example political, racial discrimination, environmental destruction and working environment problems etc. At the same time, I felt a responsibility and importance of creating something meaningful in the future. In addition, the course was a good opportunity to learn about communication and discussion through expressing our opinions. Even though this program was only 5 weeks, I think that I absorbed many things. Especially, visiting the design museum was mostly impressive for me and gave me a lot of inspiration.. I will use this experience in the future in order to develop further.
FUTURE I want to create my design style and speak English well to express my opinion and ideas with other people. Furthermore, I hope that I will became a product designer who will transfer ideas of simple and environmentally friendly design around the world and create products that are appreciated and accepted by many people.
HELLO MY NAME IS
Naty What is the most important thing you have learned in the UCA PSEAD course?
NAME: Natalia Rueda NATIONALITY: Spanish LANGUAGE: Spanish & English INTERESTS: Technology, Design FUTURE COURSE: IFADM GOAL: Learn from everything I do
At first I thought this course was a simple English course, but I was totally wrong. In this course I did not just improve my English, perhaps I learned how to research information and elaborate my ideas in a new way. Moreover, I made a lot of foreign friends and I learned lots of different things from their countries. Also, they thought me how to cook and to live better with each other.
PAST
PSEAD COURSE
I started studying English approximately when I was 3 years old. Since that, I loved the language and I was always trying to learn more about it.
I started PSEAD on the second part of the course, so I only had 5 weeks. I started having quite a struggle with the English language but now I feel very confident with it.
Furthermore, I spoke English with my mum at home, so I had the chance to improve it slowly. Before I came to UCA I was studying in my school, so I just left studies and came to this university to start a new life.
At first I was very scared about living in other country, with people who don’t speak my native language and with different ways of living but, later on I got used to it. Personally, I think this course is a good introduction to the university life if you are a foreigner because you practise a lot your English skills based on art and design.
FUTURE Because this year I just left school, I don’t have a strong decision in what I want to study, but this course gave me the chance to explore different subjects related with art and design that I like a lot., Firstly, when we went to Epsom, I was really impressed with the presentation I saw about Fashion Promoting and Imaging, and also with the Graphic Design talk. So now, I have in mind those careers. But first, in January I will do, such as some of my colleagues, the IFADM course, that it will help me decide what I want to explore further in the future.
We are not just friends, we are a family.
