Library collection Our Library collection is 995 890 items/ 664 775 titles, including more than 330000 titles of electronic resources. This is a serious collection of scientific, educational, reference books and periodicals, that provide research and academic mission of NaUKMA. Library collection is fully represented via OPAC, e-resources accessible also through our web-site (A-Z list). Collection development of the NaUKMA Library – is a unique example of creating in a short time (since February 1992) from zero to almost one million, well known in Ukraine and abroad. Almost 70% are books and periodicals, donated by more than 5 thousands of individuals, institutions and organizations from around the world. There are 54 private collections at our Library also (from Ukrainian scholars mostly). Significant historical, cultural and scientific value brings the special Rare Books collection with more than 8000 items. Our collection is multilingual: Ukrainian editions are 51%, 23% - in English, as well as we have books in 99 languages.

It
has often been said that a Library is the heart of the University. This is certainly the case at the University of Kyiv Mohyla
Academy. The University Library is a coordinated network of 9 libraries , offering a wealth of informational and scholarly resources pertinent to the academic departments, programs, and services of the University. It is essential to the creation of a quality educational experience for undergraduate and graduate students and in the support of the quality research in all fields. When the first library was established at the re-opened University in 1992, it consisted of 0 (!) volumes. Since that modest beginning, the collections have grown to almost 1 million volumes, including about 330 000 in e-collection, as well as manuscripts, rare books, video, maps etc. . These extensive collections are all readily accessible over the Internet via the OPAC as well as other resources. The Library is the major provider of high quality scholarly information resources and services to the NaUKMA community, and takes advantage of its global network of suppliers to source information resources with an increasing preference for those in electronic format. Our Library staff are available to assist with reference and other informational questions. How to Use Library NaUKMA scholars,students, faculty and staff have full rights to access Library. The right to use reading rooms only is offered to: • Foreign researchers in NaUKMa • NaUKMA alumni • Other users Making an account in the Library: • For students of NaUKMa - based on student ID • For other users - based on your Library card You can issue your Library card at American Library (Building 4, room 116) Monday - Friday 10.00-19.00 Saturday: 10.00-15.00 When signing in at the NaUKMA Library, you must be acquainted with with the rules of usage.
Library history “The original Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, founded by the Metropolitan of Kyiv Petro Mohyla in 1615, was one of the most distinguished and earliest among higher educational institutions in Eastern Europe” 1615 - began to function 1633 - significant contribution by Petro Mohyla (2130 books) Early XVIII ct. - 3500 books Late XVIII ct. 12 000 items XIX ct. – Library is transferred to Kiev Theological Academy with total collection ab. 150 000 items Since 1920 – part of Library is transferred to Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine 1992 (feb.) – start of Library renewal (from the first book). Temporary location in Blagovischennia Church 1992 (sep.) – Library receives 4 rooms in Building 1 1993 – fund - 39 000 items’ collection 1996 – 3 reading rooms provided, an automation project started 1998 – reorganization of the Library structure (Graduate and Undergraduate levels) 2001 – Scientific archive is launched (with over 70 personal archive funds) 2006 – over 450 000 books, 7 reading rooms. Electronic collection is launched 2007 – Antonovych’ Library and Omeljan Pritsak’s Memorial Library is opened 2008 - 512 000 items of printed collection 2010 – Art Library and James Mace Memorial Library is opened 2012 - 650 000+ items of printed collection, with over 330 000 items of electronic resources

Electronic Resources OPAC (E-Catalogue) (http://aleph.ukma.kiev.ua/F) - Bibliographic database, which represents full structure and content of library collections, and is a tool of search and access to library resources and services. A-Z databases - Alphabet list of databases with short descriptions and direct links, available in local network.
