Traditionally, a fifties skirt hits two handwidths below the knee, a length that designers have been playing around with this season. Petticoats are fantastic for a dding more volume and swoosh. In contrast, the upper body is clad in figure-hugging garments.
We are all aflame with the Fifties Fever! Why? No other decade has been able to make the feminine figure look so fabulous.

Swirling poodle skirts, feminine blouses and delicate materials accentuate the female figure and are tantamount to the Fifties. It was Christian Dior who popularised the feminine silhouette, deemed as the “New Look”, during the post-war era. Back then, slim waists and curvaceous hips were parti cularly highlighted. The trend is back in 2012 and we are welcoming it with open arms. Problematic areas around the rear and thighs instantly disappear beneath flared skirts and dresses.

Throughout her career, the Americanborn beauty worked as an actress, producer and singer who achieved her international breakthrough by playing the leading role in the movie “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”. According to the American Film Institute, the platinum blonde cinema icon of the 50s is amongst the 25 greatest female stars, even today. Her fascinating life is currently on the big screen in the drama “My Week With Marilyn” with Michelle Williams as the lead. Norma Jean Baker, as was her real name, mastered the art of putting herself in the spotlight, which is why she was so adored by photographers. Her styling and
s tunning curves are still considered to be the embodiment of sensuousness. We love her philosophy that “beauty and femininity are ageless and can‘t be contrived”. Yet above all else, we adore her certainty of style: Marilyn Monroe preferred to adorn herself in shades of champagne – elegant blouses, polka dot dresses and pencil skirts were amongst her favourite pieces. Trousers Ideally, you should wear trousers with a button that hits above the belly button – a trick for instantly hiding away a couple of pounds. Feel free to wear leggings and drainpipe jeans, just take care that they are not too low-rise. Shorts, capris and cropped bottoms can skilfully highlight your legs and distract away from your middle.

Dresses When it comes to dresses, the only issue you have is having to decide! Whether short or long, you can wear whatever your heart desires. You can sport empire-line cuts without a care in the world. Avoid a bulky-looking silhouette by keeping away from designs that are too wide-cut.

It is key here to find a properly fitted waistband that provides the belly with some support. Pencil skirts, for example, look sensational when combined with a longer cut top.

Blouses & Shirts You can wear any top that drapes loosely from the bust down. In short, choose breezy cuts that lightly dance about your upper body. Smocking, frills and additional little details can also help spice up the outfit. In contrast, avoid elabo rately draped fabrics around the belly area. The Dutch fashion label Head over Heels has been designing plus size fashion since 1985. What was once founded by the couple Henze as a traditional family firm is now being managed by the second generation. The label picks up on trends and then adorns curvaceous women with stylish designs in premium quality materials. A Head over Heels customer knows her figure perfectly and enjoys playing around with different styles. The collections are designed in the Netherlands and then produced in European countries such as Turkey, Greece and Portugal. Both the quality of the products as well as the working conditions are monitored on site.
