S U M M E R 2015/16
It’s really cold now so i thought i’d make this thing, to sort of compile some of the best stuff that happened over the duration of the summer last year/this year. An ode to summer i guess.
Summer always starts with the campout at my house. It happens every year (its only been two years but it feelsl like a tradition) after exams are over. We all get together and set up camp in my paddock and bring our expired study notes with us. They go in to the flames as we watch, and drink, probably too much. I tried to get everyone to come in cowboy hats but only four of us actually did. I guess this event commences the start of summer and all that entales with said season. I’m really glad that we do this, it’s so great to unwind after exams with your best mates. And its always at my house because i usually leave for a few weeks to go down and work on the farm to make money to fund the season.
Fast forward one month and its New Years week. Everyone went to the Mount this year, and boy was it messy (in a good way most of the time). SO much happened between the campout and now. Some good, some bad, but all interesting. Kinda of a weird feeling, but it was still fun as fuck, especially becuase you’re with people you actually like, most of the time, and that’s so great.
New Years Eve
Sound Splash festival in Raglan This was a new festival that was held in Raglan at the Wainui Reserve for a couple days. It was so sweet, sleeping in tents, morning swims, and psycadellic reggae raves in the dark. High Summer.
We were all back at home now, recovering from the month. All at a dinner to say goodbye to one of our friends who was moving cities for university a year earlier than the rest of us. It was so weird to have friends move away for the first time, felt so grown up. Outings like this never go smoothly really, something always happens at the restaurant and we usually never go back there ever again. This time our food was late so a couple of them complained and got cheaper dinners. Kind of great how we started together and ended together, i think that’s really cool.
