The major disadvantage of school buildings in Iran is that they don ‘t look like buildings for children. Children engage in learning activities more easily when they feel emotionally attached with their environment. Thus, making student feel that the space they occupy is designed for them, is of high importance. The project is located in Sari in the northern part of Iran, between the northern slopes of the Arborz Mountains and southern coast of the Caspian Sea. Sari has a humid subtropical climate with high precipitation. Goals and objectives : To provide an upgraded children friendly environment Importance of site location must be highlighted

Heech Cultural Center Architectural Design III / 2nd semester 2016-2017 Individual project / Instructor : Hamed Nazari An artist who made something out of nothing An artist, collector, scholar, and teacher, Parviz Tanavoli is among the foremost contemporary Iranian artists and a pioneer of modern sculpture. As a founding member of the Saqqakhaneh artistic movement-referred to by some as “Spiritual Pop Art”- his works are infused with his deep knowledge of Iran’s rich visual, craft , and literary heritage. Among his motifs is “Heech”, based on the Persian word for “nothingness”. Of this word and its resonances, Tanavoli has said: “Heech has a rich story and a long history in our poetry and in our Sufism. It is not simple nothingness. It is a nothingness that voices the wholeness of being. This figure Heechmakes you think about all of this: of being and not being. Heech, to me, is one word that alone tells the whole story of humanity.” Goals and objectives : The purpose of this project is to design a cultural center to promote and live the Iranian culture while sharing it through programs and events; encouraging and supporting creativity and curiosity, respect for Tanavoli’s contribution to the growth of Iranian contemporary art, respect for the arts and respect for each other. “Heech” and its philosophy in Iranian poetry and Sufism creates the concept of the project. Visitors after passing through a sumptuous portal on the main street, would face a minimal cube. This transfer lead visitors mind to the concept of “nothingness”.


Heech Cultural Center

This project is located in urban area of Yazd with natural topography. The level of this project on East is four meters higher from its West. This urban location gives the project an identity to connect different levels of the city.

One productive environmental strategy for dealing with the climate issues in the hot-arid regions of Iran, especially Yazd Province, is placing buildings underground so they will be less affected by the adverse weather conditions.

Sunken courtyard is decorated by Persian brick patterns (Fakhromadin)

Placing two sunken courtyard on the northern and southern side of the project can ensure adequate ventilation and daylight in underground levels which helps to save Energy.

There is two main entrances, one of them form the eastern side which determines the way of cars, pedestrian’s access to the project, and the other one is located on the western side which connect a park to the center. In order to match this two levels an amphitheater had been implemented٪

Life Residential Complex Architectural Design V / 2nd semester 2017-2018 Individual project / Instructor : Dr. Ali Rahmanpour

When it comes to terms of defining the most significant feature of Persian historical architecture in house design, courtyard is the most significant one. The comforts offered by a courtyard-air, light, pleasant view and tranquility- are properties nearly universally desired in human housing which is common in Iran. The construction of high-rise buildings and filling every empty space of city has led courtyard to be forgotten. Thus, the main concept of this residential complex, by considering the circumstances of modern life, is based on recreating traditional courtyards by providing large balconies for each unit. I tried to re-create a sense of living in a peaceful neighborhood full of interaction.

Goals and objectives :

To provide approximately 160 modular housing units with one, two or three bedrooms spread in a multi-block residential complex with limitation in height (maximum of eight floors)

Art Centers have not been welcomed by everyone in Tehran and in most cases are limited to its particular artists due to the dispersion of art galleries in the city and the lack of place where focus on all the visual arts, therefore a large group of society is not familiar with this kind of arts. The importance of this issue and its attention to it is doubled given that a significant percentage of the population of Iran lives in Tehran and its suburbs.
