ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

People who apply to New Brunswick Bible Institute should be of approved Christian character, considerate of others, willing to be taught and willing to obey the governing regulations of the school. They must be ready to submit to those responsible for the direction of the school and student life. The following requirements are necessary when making application: 1. Applicants must be genuinely born again and possess sufficient maturity of Christian character and zeal to be clearly recognized by fellow Christians who know them well. 2. All applicants must be willing to submit cheerfully to the Institute’s regulations and discipline. 3. Applicants should be high school graduates, or at least 18 years of age. Some exceptions may be made under special conditions.

Transferring Credits

New Brunswick Bible Institute is prepared to give credit to students who have taken courses equivalent to those in our programs. Transfer credits will be given only for subjects taken at a post-secondary level and when the student has earned 70% or higher. For more information about transferring credits to NBBI, contact our admissions’ office.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES New Students

Application to New Brunswick Bible Institute can be made by going online to nbbi.ca/admissions/applications/ or by requesting application forms by calling 1 (800) 771-6224. 1. All application forms should be filled out in English by the applicant. 2. Fully answer all questions on application forms A, B, C and D. 3. Be sure to add a clear autobiography and testimony as mentioned under “Christian Experience” on form B. 4. Reference forms E (Pastor/Elder) and F (Employer or Teacher) must be completed by the referee online or on paper and sent directly to the Office of Admissions. Referees must not be related to you (the applicant) and must have known you for at least a year. Referee must also be 21 years of age or older. 5. Arrange for an official transcript from your most recent educational institution to be sent to us. An official transcript is one issued by the school, bearing an original signature or school seal. The transcript should be sent in a sealed envelope from the issuing educational institution. 6. Your photo is not required but is beneficial to us. It can be sent with your form A. 7. Once we receive all items for your application we can begin the process of evaluating it. You will be notified by email or phone of your acceptance. You are then responsible to send in the student confirmation fee to confirm your attendance at NBBI. This fee is non-refundable, but will be credited to your account. Receipt of this fee will be acknowledged by an official acceptance letter. An acceptance packet will also be sent which will include information you will need to prepare for your year(s) here at NBBI. Re-Application Procedure Junior, Senior and Advanced Biblical Ministries Students

To be considered for a new term, junior, senior and ABM students must re-apply by filling in the form provided at the end of the school year. Re-application will be accepted provided the student has completed the required summer Practical Christian Service and acquired the necessary credits. The re-application fee must be received by the Registrar’s office no later than July 15. This amount will be credited to the student’s account. Re-application fees received after July 15 will not be credited to the account. Returning Application Procedure

Students who have been out of school for one or more semesters should contact the Registrar to receive an updated catalogue and information concerning re-applying.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (Including USA) Citizenship and Immigration Canada Requirements are Included.

As an international student you should begin the application process well in advance of the semester in which you plan to enroll. In addition to the enrolment procedures already listed, international students, including those from the USA, should note the following: 1. If the international applicant’s first language is not English, satisfactory results from the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) must be sent directly to New Brunswick Bible Institute. After being accepted by New Brunswick Bible Institute, you will need to apply for a Study Permit. You can find the application online at, www.cic.gc. ca/english/study/study.asp or visit the nearest Canadian government office in your home country. If you are a citizen of the United States of America, you may apply at your point of entry into Canada when you come to school. The immigration officer will take your information and will print out the permit. Students from some countries may also need a Temporary Resident Visa and some may need a medical exam. When applying for your study permit you will need: a) Proof of acceptance - an official letter of acceptance stating that you have been accepted in a theological course of study at the New Brunswick Bible Institute and a form of information. These will be included in the acceptance packet sent to all international students upon notification of acceptance. b) Proof of identity - A valid passport or travel document for you and each accompanying family member. The passport or travel document must allow you to return to the country that issued it. Citizens and permanent residents of the United States, St. Pierre and Miquelon, and Greenland do not need a passport, but do need proof of status and citizenship, such as a national identity card or an alien registration card. c) Proof of financial support - You must prove that you have enough money to pay for your tuition fees, living expenses for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada, and return transportation for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada. You can prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself in Canada by showing some of the following: • proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada;

• proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution; • your bank statements for the past four months;

• a bank draft in convertible currency; • proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees; • a letter from the person or institution

providing you with money; • proof of funding paid from within Canada if you have a scholarship. For full details please see the Canadian Government Web site at www.cic.gc.ca (click on Study). Canada Immigration will charge a non-refundable fee to cover the cost of processing the application for entry into Canada. 3. Students driving into Canada must report to the Canada Immigration Centre at the place of entry into Canada. Please allow time for immigration processing at the border. They must also report when they are returning to their homes.

Please Note: Parents, family or friends travelling to Canada with students will also be required to have a passport, passport card, or other WHTI-compliant document when crossing the border. Children under the age of 16 will be able to present the original or copy of their birth certificate, or other proof of U.S. citizenship such as a naturalization certificate or citizenship card.

You will find the immigration and customs officials, for the most part, very co-operative and friendly. Come with the documentation above, be very courteous, respectful and Christ-like, and you should have no difficulty entering into Canada.
