every man shall bear his own burden.” This pictures a disciplined life and reminds us that there are certain things nobody can do for us. Nobody can repent for you, trust Christ for you, read your Bible for you, pray for you, or serve Christ for you. These are things you must bear yourself. Finally, there are burdens we must lay down. Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” The word “weary” means to be faint-hearted, or desperate. There are many burdens that we simply must lay at the feet of Jesus, the only one that can meet the need. Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Never forget that, whatever burdens darken your path, none are greater than the burden of sin that our Saviour carried for us. This is why we can turn to Him no matter how heavy the load.

Retreat Recap
And that’s a wrap! Ladies of Grace Conference, October 2022, is over and life has returned to normal here on the campus of NBBI. What a joy it was to host 142 guests in addition to our own staff and student body! After almost three years of very little outside guests being on our campus, it was amazing to have the buzz of so many people and so many things going on!
It was a blessing to have Rachel Van Pelt share her journey of hope through her life while taking us to Scripture to reinforce what God wants for each one of us in the midst of suffering. Using Hebrews 12:1-2 as our main passage, Rachel encouraged us with the fact that we have a great cloud of witnesses, those who have gone before us. They showed us how to walk in freedom and victory, beginning with being set free from the weights and sin that so easily keeps us in bondage. She shared her life’s story through an impactful skit detailing the weights and chains she picked up over the course of her life and how her relationship with Jesus showed her how to take those weights and chains she had been carrying to the cross and leave victory because our hope is in what Jesus has already accomplished in our lives and is continuing to accomplish as we walk with Him.
It was also a joy to have Lorna Ralston share her life’s testimony from her early days in New Brunswick to the country of Italy where she served alongside her husband Michael, and back to New Brunswick again. She shared the suffering of dealing with cancer three times while plans and purpose that He has for my life! them there. The cross is the place where all our weights and sin have been dealt with once and for all. As we leave our weights and sin at the cross, we are now free to run the race of life with certain in Italy, the sudden loss of her husband and how she constantly was reminded that God had her back and He had a plan. What an encouragement to hear of God’s faithfulness in every area of her life, that continues to this day in her current life and ministry. My own heart was encouraged and challenged to keep my focus on Who I know God is, the fact that He never changes and that I can trust the
A huge thank you to each of the men, both staff and students, who served us all so wonderfully so that we could enjoy sitting under the teaching of the Word and fellowshipping with our guests, while singing and learning together in our sessions.
Our committee is already working on the details of next year’s event and we can’t wait to see what God has for us next October 20-21, 2023. Save these dates, my friends, and plan on joining us as we welcome Bonnie Gallant to our campus to share what God is doing in her life along with her husband, Allan. Keep watching for more information in the months and days ahead!
