2014 NEBLSA REGIONAL CONVENTION
Announcement
Dear NEBLSA Members,
You are cordially and personally invited to the culminating event of the year, the 46th Annual NEBLSA Regional Convention taking place in Albany, NY from January 22rd-26th, 2014. This year’s convention promises to be great like all the ones before it, and caters to you, the members. We have an exciting lineup of programing, as well as networking opportunities, and of course the much anticipated Awards Gala. Based on the response and feedback provided regarding our new Convention format that was instituted last year, we have retained the shorter Convention schedule. We have done this to accommodate your needs, lives, and budgets as law students. To this, we have packed the traditional one-week Convention schedule into one great, fun-filled weekend. The Frederick Douglass Moot Court and Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial competitions will commence on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 with the Competitors dinner and meeting. The convention programming will begin on Friday, January 24, 2014; however, members are more than welcome to arrive early to observe the competitions. Don’t let the shorter convention scare you. This year’s convention still has an exciting schedule of events. This year’s kickoff to the Convention will be our Regional Lobby Day, where we will meet with legislators in Albany to discuss the advocacy topics NBLSA is focused on, such as dismantling the school to prison pipeline, and education reform. Additionally, the panels and workshops, hosted by our region’s elite attorneys, and three plenary sessions give you an opportunity to share ideas and enact change in the region. Lastly, you will also have the opportunity to elect the region’s new executive board. I hope that this Convention Preview gives you an adequate overview of the weekend so that you can prepare for a great time in Albany, NY. I hope to see you soon!
Warmest Regards,
Clais Daniels-Edwards Regional Chair, 2013-2014
