San Diego Sockers Armed Services YMCA Night: San Diego’s indoor soccer team, the San Diego Sockers, is hosting a toy drive to benefit the Armed Services YMCA at their home game against Louisville at the Del Mar Arena. Volunteers are needed to collect toys from fans, load and unload toys, and participate in the half time show. Volunteers will enjoy the game for FREE and will receive an ASYMCA volunteer t-shirt! (SATURDAY, 4 DECEMBER 1700-2100) Homework Helpers: Tutor local students of all ages in social studies, science, English, and math. Volunteers are paired with children based on subject interest. Help children with their homework and inspire them! (TUESDAY, 7 and 21 DECEMBER 1800-2000) Sunrise Senior Living Center: Sunrise of La Jolla is an assisted living community for seniors. Volunteer to facilitate games such as bingo, cards, etc. and to spend time chatting with residents one on one. (8 DECEMBER 1800-2000)

Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve: It is time for the annual Holiday at the Rancho! Volunteers are needed to plant sycamore trees and lay retaining bricks around the ranch house. When the work is complete, everyone will enjoy a FREE holiday buffet including “ham and fixins”! (SATURDAY, 11 DECEMBER 0930-1400) (25 VOLUNTEERS MAX)

SuperParent Holiday Shopping: It’s time for the Armed Services YMCA annual SuperParent Holiday Shopping Program! Volunteers are needed for organizing and setting up toys, distribution of toys to military parents, break down and clean up. FREE lunch will be provided each day! Transportation will only be available from the NMAWC base in Pt Loma. (13-16 DECEMBER 0830-1600 and FRIDAY, 17 DECEMBER 0830-1300) (20 VOLUNTEERS MAX EACH DAY) Breakfast with Santa (for military children with special needs): Every holiday season the Armed Services YMCA hosts a special holiday party at the downtown USO for military families who have children with special needs. Volunteers are needed to assist with set up and clean up, and to help with crafts, food service (event is being catered), and decorations. (SUNDAY, 19 DECEMBER 1100-1530) (15 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Neighborhood Exchange: We have partnered up with the San Diego Food Bank! Volunteers needed for organizing food for hundreds of families for a free food giveaway. Volunteers are also needed for set up, carrying food to cars and breakdown. (WEDNESDAY, 22 DECEMBER 0845-1230) (25 VOLUNTEERS MAX)
