Drop Off Your Unused Prescription Drugs! Medication that is not disposed of properly pollutes water supplies and can cause harm to children, pets, and others. Medicines that accumulate in home medicine cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. By participating in this event, you will not only rid your household of all unused prescription drugs, but also decrease damaging effects on our environment and keep others safe. On April 30, 2011, collection activities, in conjunction with the DEA, will take place from 10:00 AM through 2:00 PM at sites across the Nation, including Naval Medical Center San Diego, MCAS Miramar, and Naval Base San Diego. The program is ANONYMOUS and FREE for Active Duty, Dependents, Retirees, and Staff. Prescription and over the counter medications will be accepted. Intravenous solutions, injectables, and needles will not be accepted. Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine will not be accepted.
