The wind for the final round of play took its toll as scores soared. After posting scores of 77 and 72 in the opening two rounds, Jones recorded a 14-over-par score of 86 on Tuesday for a total of 235. Shaw also saw his final round score grow after tallies of 82 and 81 on Monday. He finished in a tie for 36th with a three-round total of 248. EAGLES FINISH EIGHTH AT HBCU HALL OF FAME GOLF INVITATIONAL (Sept. 28, 2010) ATLANTA – North Carolina Central University freshman Spencer Jones carded a 7-over-par 79 to pace the Eagles to an eighth-place finish at the 2010 HBCU Hall of Fame Invitational Golf Tournament at Browns Mill Golf Course in Atlanta. The two-day event was cut short due to inclement weather on Sunday (Sept. 26). Tournament officials ended Sunday’s competition in the middle of the second round and used Saturday’s opening-round scores to determine the final standings. Jones was reportedly standing at 2-under-par through 15 holes when the wet weather rolled in on Sunday, but his day-two success was not factored into the individual standings, as the rookie settled for a tie at 28th place among 43 golfers. NCCU junior Braden Cox shot an 82 to tie for 34th place, followed by sophomore Gavin Thompson with an 84 (36th tie), sophomore Kempton Mandeville with an 84 (39th) and sophomore Ronald Royster with an 85 (40th). NCCU freshman Jalen Farmer tallied a score of 83 as an extra individual golfer for the Eagles. As a team, NCCU posted a score of 328 to place
