CONSULTATION STATIONS IndieCommerce and IndieLite Geetha Nathan is back again this year offering IndieCommerce and IndieLite consultations for ABA’s online platforms for marketing events and author appearances as well as selling books and other merchandise. Both users and non-users of IndieCommerce and IndieLite – including non-ABA members are invited. Scheduled appointments preferred, space is limited, but walk-ins are welcome. Hours: Thursday, Oct. 19, 10:00 am - 7:00 pm Friday, Oct. 20, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Location: Business Center, South Lobby Corner Pre-Scheduled Social Media Audits Social media maven Julia Park Tracey will evaluate your program pre-show and in your 15-minute show time appointment, you’ll walk away with a list of “atta boys” and fixes specific to your social media. Plus you’ll have the opportunity to dialog with an expert on how to take your social media to the next level. Pre-Scheduled Social Media Training It’s all fine and well to listen to how other people do their social media programs; it’s even better when you do it yourself. Bring your laptop or phone so you can get hands on help with any question you have. We’ll have two bookselling social media experts present who are prepared to work with you one-on-one to help you figure it out.

*Rules of Polite Society: Taking without asking is stealing. This rule applies to ARC’s, finished books and the Holiday Catalog Display. Please ask before taking. 2

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19 All Education Sponsored by Penguin Random House 9:00 am NCIBA ANNUAL MEETING (Baden A) 9:45 - 10:45 am Maximizing Backlist
(Baden A) A bookstore’s frontlist sales — which are spurred by handselling, current events, reviews, and media coverage — are essential. But when it comes to bottom-line profits, backlist titles with proven track records can be an equal, and potentially more manageable, asset. In this session, ABA will explore proven ways to market, promote, and sell backlist titles. The session will include a discussion of advantageous backlist terms now being offered by some publishers as well as best practices for successfully managing your store’s cash flow and return on investment.
