Free Kids’ Holiday Movie

Fortuna Free Kids’ Movie for the Holidays was on December 10th and was a special showing of Minions: The Rise of Gru.

Fortuna businesses all over town, handed out lots of tickets to admit children under 12 with a chaperone to enjoy the movie. Each attendee received a free junior-sized popcorn and soda and a holiday toy.

Sandi Petersen Photography was on site capturing the special holiday memories. The Fortuna Kids’ Free Movie was brought to you by the City of Fortuna and the Fortuna Chamber, with funding from the Fortuna Business Improvement District and other generous sponsors.

Fortuna garden club christmas home tour and tea

The Fortuna Garden Club’s 2022 Christmas Home Tour and Tea was a huge success. After a 2 year hiatus due to Covid, the festivities were long overdue! The Home tour and tea gives Fortuna and surrounding areas an opportunity to visit up to 4 Fortuna homes that are all decorated for Christmas.

The Monday club looked super festive this year in beautiful silver and gold decorations. Guests were able to enjoy a wonderful selection of homemade treats as well as hot drinks. The opportunity drawing offered over 90 wonderful prizes! What a super time to get some last-minute Christmas gifts. Ticket sales were over 3500, and we had 3 beautiful homes to visit this year. Our homeowners on the tour love the festive holiday spirit that the guests bring when visiting their homes. If you have never attended to this wonderful Christmas event, plan to do it next December, it is a perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit

Fortuna is fortunate to have such an active garden club. With over 100 members, the club took on the responsibility of creating and maintaining the beautiful corner gardens along Main Street. During the spring and summer, you will see the members pulling weeds, and planting flowers to keep our community looking as beautiful as possible for the different events we have here.

In the spring, the garden club offers two $1,000 scholarships to Fortuna High School seniors who are planning to go on to a variety of agriculture studies. For more information about these scholarships, please contact Debra Strahan at (707) 496-9353
